What the hell? :what:

That isn't even Jay's neighborhood where the team is at. That's Park Slope.

Second....it wasn't a "goal" of his. He was brought in by Bruce Ratner to keep the natives quiet.

THIS Bruce Ratner...who has a goal to turn downtown Brooklyn in to Midtown Manhattan. He's half way there considering he's developed Metrotech which is up the street.

P

Bruce used the Nets to purchase more Brooklyn real estate. Jay's influence didn't have a DAMN thing to do with it.

:

Now sit yo ass down before handing some goal Jay never had.

Requote for truth...

I got family that's fukking pissed at stadium, the gentrification continues...

what % of a team do you own? :manny:

not saying that hes the reason for the teams existence...but he will be responsible for a lot of that merchandise being sold....those colors and log plus the fact that jay z is endorsing will equal a lot of $$$ being made...

the nets games will be the new 'it' thing to go to...:usure:

Jay doesn't own 1% of the Nets. Its actually less than that, he only spent 1 million of his own money to get ownership in it and 1 million don't equate 1% ownership in a nba franchise. Nelly owns less than a percent of the Bobcats and same goes for Usher with the Cavs. Dem nikkas is figure heads that are supposed to boost attendance based on association/affiliation.

I'll let you tell it :russ: at cats in here acting like ole camel is a majority shareholder or something

You've been upset and anti-this thing from day 1, but I know teachers and people who work with juveniles who are all for it and like the shift in the area. But the irony is that despite claiming Jay had nothing to do with it, for years you keep saying that he was the salesman for the project. You're going to give me concrete reasons why you're so upset. The people I know who are giving up high-paying jobs to work in communities don't seem to be. Granted, they're not Brooklyn natives, so if it's over heritage then I can understand that. Otherwise, I'm not quite sure how this is a net loss.

I've been what?

Stop speaking for me.

The Barclays Center has yet to parlay to employment for the community outside that area.

That area of Brooklyn isn't the issue since its not densely packed in the first place. It's the surrounding areas that the Barclays center effects.

What does it mean to East New York, Brownsville or the Stuy Jay always claims to rep? Not a damn thing.

What does it mean to Crown Heights? Escalating rents and tons of traffic backing into my old neighborhood.

What does it mean for the local environment? They break ground on one of 16 skyscrapers to fit in five square blocks. All of the raw sewage is going to back up the Gowanas canal which has seen improvements the past ten years.

My boy is running for city council and is trying to get Forest City Ratner to fulfill their promise of including low to moderate income housing within that development...so he's been fighting it and has extended the finished date to 25 years rather than ten hoping all of the local negros complaining are gone by then.

fukk yeah I have some issues with it. Things can be addressed, but they aren't.

That "area" of Park Slope is not some broken down crime ridden place in need of "a shift." :childplease: i just brought up the areas in need of "a shift" that arena has nothing to do with. What the hell are you and those teachers you claim to know talking about?

And what jobs are you and those teachers talking about?

Back in 2003, the Atlantic Yards development was sold as good for everyone. Developers and officials said there would be 10,000 jobs, but those jobs have yet to materialize. While 35,000 people applied this summer for jobs at the arena, there were only 2,000 available, 1,900 of which are part-time. And while the Empire State Development Corporation projected the project would generate 8,560 permanent jobs and 16,924 construction jobs, a Forest City spokesman, Joe DePlasco, told The New York Times that an average of 841 workers per day were on site over the past year.

Why do you take pride in being an insufferable a$$hole at all times? You've been against the project since SOHH. So no is speaking for you. I'm asking you why because before you've only spoken in generalities about Jay was used to convince people. You directly said that the native son would of course look like he had the interests of Brooklyn at heart. Please cut your tough guy shyt off for once in your life.

That's all you needed to say.

Fair point, but I'd have to see how it's being done.

My boy is running for city council and is trying to get Forest City Ratner to fulfill their promise of including low to moderate income housing within that development...so he's been fighting it and has extended the finished date to 25 years rather than ten hoping all of the local negros complaining are gone by then.
This is really the main thing I was curious about and stuff that I've heard from other people. Though not as simplified.

fukk yeah I have some issues with it. Things can be addressed, but they aren't.

Where did I say a single thing about jobs? Where have I ever even said why they support it? I just used them as examples because I know what type of people they are, and they wouldn't support something that will fukk people up overall. They expressed some of the same concerns that you did, but they think that overall it will be a net positive and by area, I meant "Brooklyn" as a whole. The caveat they always used was, if it results the jobs that they believe will naturally develop. I'm not familiar enough with Brooklyn's landscape to regurgiate what they said when we were met up for a reunion last week. It wasn't even the focal point of the conversation. You seem to know enough about the issue to know what proponents would argue. Where did I ever say any of this shyt your complaining about? Go ahead and continue fighting with yourself.

I asked a question with the intention of trying to get some first hand info from someone who seemed knowledgeable and you came out huffing and puffing. If your boy's anything like you then he's going to take an L. You're the exact opposite of a cool head.

No, I won't be going back and forth with you, I learned the futility of that on SOHH.
