Jay Z had State Property rap every time they seen him and took their rhymes

Reasonable Doubt is heavily influenced by the Lo. Yeah RD dropped first but Uptown was in recording process first/got stuck in label limbo. The Lo were always on the lavish/elite crooks/lifestyle vibe. Jay was not until he would peep in on what Ski was working on. Jay has been taking styles since the beginning.
Jay dropped In My Lifetime in 94 using that same style. Camp Lo didn't form until 95. Jay jacked their beats for sure but he was already on that lavish lifestyle vibe.

Can u give examples?
I mean, Jay is my favorite rapper, but I think @Jigganaut is spot on about Jay using a lot of Young Chris' flows and deliveries.

I think you could start to hear pieces of it starting on Blueprint 2, but American Gangster has always been the album where I thought Jay sounded the most like Chris. Check out Blueprint 2 (the song), especially the 2nd verse. That's a great example. American Dreamin' and Sweet are a good examples. Ignorant shyt is even aa decent example.

I think it's almost easier to listen to Chris' verses and you can hear how much it sounds like Jay. The whisper flow is definitely something that Jay took for Chris.

I'm not even that mad at Jay for it. You're influenced by the cats around you. I never thought he bit Chris' entire style or anything, but he definitely added a lot of elements of Chris' delivery in his early-mid 2000's era. Chris has been super cool about it too. Whenever he's asked about it in interviews, he always downplays it. Someone like him could easily talk mad shyt about Jay, but he seems to be pretty appreciative of Jay and his time at Rocafella.

Edit: This verse here dropped January 2002, and Jay dropped Excuse Me Miss in Oct/Nov of 2002

Sparks said jay was looking for a single which was false
sparks flip Rick James lyrics
sparks song would never see the light of day being he couldn’t afford the sample
so jay put him on Give it me song and let sparks perform the hook.
and instead of using that to boost his career sparks did nothing with the look

how exactly was sparks supposed to boost his career off of doing an un-credited hook, and never being formally introduced in interviews or anything??

all they did was clear the lane for him to dance during the song on a few TV performances. your average person around the country prolly just thought he was one of jay's weed-carriers from Marcy that does funny chit, and didnt even realize he was on the hook.

If it wasnt for Jay thinking Nas was:flabbynsick: and a easy touch Jay would have ducked him too. He had already tried sending the goons and they got :dead:. By then it was too late for Jay to duck tho

you trying to say Nas trashed SP with that paid in full freestyle??:childplease:

Jay-Z jacked Jaz-O sttyle in the 80s
Hov then stole Fu Schnickens flow in the early 90s
Mid to late 90s Nas gave him a style to run with
After Biggie died, Jay tried to become Big
Young Chris comes along n is totally shang tsung'd by Jigga (early 00s)

to add to that, these timelines always skip over the late '90s/early 2000s when he was biting philly most wanted & major figgas.

those groups were supposed to be the original dynasty, btw. but rocafella lost the bidding war for those groups.

Y’all be asking celebrities to do shyt y’all wouldn’t do

Would u look out for a dude who publicly said he can expose secrets to your wife to millions of people?

youre leap-frogging the cause of that line.

this is after jay held beans contract hostage.

It’s a shame and I really like O
But the only way he can garner interest or get noticed is to talk about Jay and Roc shyt from 20 years ago

dog. EVERY rapper whos been around 20-30 years is doing the exact same thing.

and he has his own podcast. of course hes gonna tell his stories.

dont let these jay fanboys influence you with their narratives.

50 co produce Freeway album Free at Last... shyt was legit fire. Hov didn't even want to do a video with Free for Big Spender. Hov did look out by paying for all his medical expenses and surgeries for his kidneys though. You gotta respect that

THIS

but hey, if jay let freeway go, freeway prolly couldve paid his own expenses so i aint patting jay on the back.

I always said people that was in the circle get tight and loose thier minds when they not there anymore
Imagine how lenny cooke feels when he watches basketball and see melo jokim amare and lebron play
And he hears about million dollar deals they got
And he looks down at a rent a center bill thats 2 weeks past due on his tabl
Thats the feeling right there O is feeling

this is a terrible comparison.

we already know alot of you guys dont really get it, but the fact that you would reach to make a comparison like this, tells me why you dont get it and says alot about you as a person.

Most of Philly thinks that Jay is the greatest rapper to ever grace the mic. It may be his presence, but I don't know.

But according to Chain Gang, 1-900-HUSTLER was a Free solo track. Give it To Me was Sparks solo, Peedi had some tracks taken, Young Gunz too.

But to play devil's advocate - Snoop, Pac, 50, Gucci, TI, Remy, X, Dirty - that's just off top...were all pretty much the same predicament at one time. And they all recovered to have different levels of success. What's the difference here? The only difference I see is who is backing you and how much you're really worth. Which brings me back to my point, he was never going to be a superstar...outside of hip-hop circles. I think the 50 deal not going through, sealed his fate. With the 50 deal, he still holds on to a rap legend, as opposed to a one-time rapper...that no one knows.

But currently, Mike Knox, Beans, Chris, Quilly have formed a group, and are going to release a project.

ehh. beans used to over-sell.

and hes alot more popular and revered around the country than you might realize.

put him as the lead guy under a major label with a marketing genius, and he'd be in a much better predicament right now, even with his screwups. some of those names really shouldnt have more money than him. i dont even know who dirty is.

That album didn’t sale and the next one bombed. In that era there were no 3rd chance. And when Jay left Def Jam they were done

1st album sold well despite rocafella fumbling it with misdirection.

2nd album was under the new rocafella helmbed by jay wth no dame/biggs. EVERYBODY BRICKED and everybodys careers were instantly ended over there. EVEN MEMPHIS BLEEK said it wasnt the same when dame left.

Neck ties and boxing gloves.
Haven’t y’all learned that this is why artist have labels? You sign young hungry artist and have the hottest act use their concepts to push the brand higher and keep the hottest artist fresh
