Jay Stans, if you refuse to admit that DMX was bigger than Jay in 98, can you at least admit this

Its Dark hit so different compared to Vol 2 its not even funny. Vol 2 aged like a wombat's nutsack:

  • The "floss" monotone Jigga voice I despise so much
  • The late 90s digital Thug raps
  • Overrated ass single
  • Bounce wit me ass tracks
Meanwhile, It's Dark just felt like fukkery in the purest form. You got a man with nothing to lose rapping over prime Swizz and Dame beats. The aggression of the album brought back the rugged NYC hip hop and made folks take off the pink suits, and throw on the doo rags and timb boots.

Also, it felt more sincere compared to X's follow up album, which just ehhhh...its okay at beast.

Overall, Its Dark>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Vol 2
Fascinating!
Any takes on other unexplored topics like Takeover vs Ether or whether Reasonable Doubt was popular when it came out?

Flesh of My Flesh was a trash ass album. DMX was never bigger or better than Jay Z. That’s been proven time and time again

It's not as good as It's Dark but trash? Slippin, Ready To Meet Him, Coming From, Ain't No Way, Dogs For Life, Bring Your Whole Crew, It's All Good, Heat, Blackout, We Don't Give a fukk are all bangers

why do the people who worry so much about if X had more fans than Jay-z in a given year, never talk about about X unless it’s to say that he had more fans than Jay in a given year :mjlol:

I really wanna meet these people, whose mans are these really :dahell:

Thank you for dodging the question. :heh:

Not The Blueprint.

Jay is very lazy on that album. Carried by excellent production. IDHH is clearly better.

Jay was NOT lazy on The Blueprint thats a disingenuous argument. Although i’ll concede its probably more of an argument between IDAHIH and The Blueprint.

But Reasonable Doubt? Nah. Jay was rapping circles around A LOT of nikkas not named Biggie and Nas on RD.

Not cut and dry like that. At all. And IDAHIH is better than Blueprint imo.
