I wonder about that Flux Capacitor track

The flux capacitor track (More like the instrumental) is old (Go back a couple pages I posted the instrumental)

Electronica made the beat reason why it has that New Orleans Bounce feel to it.
Elec did good on the beat Jay-z couldn't catch the pocket of the beat

I think they are both kinda off beat on that song.

the drums are weird, so I'm kinda attributing it to that.

Little background on the Neverending Story track.

That was recorded in in 2018 (summer or earlier) between Jay Elec and Alc for some stuff they were working on.

At some point (I’m assuming recently) Jay-Z was added. You can even hear after the first verse and the singing that the beat ends and drops out, and then the intro and beat restarts from the beginning and Hov does his verse.

I’d be really curious to know when all of these tracks were recorded. I read something about 40 days and 40 nights but shiny suit theory is obviously years old and never ending story is pushing two years old now.

This is strange. I think Jay Z’s rapping on here is better than on 4:44, but there’s also something about the religious angle that doesn’t seem super authentic from him. I think his contributions are dope on here, but I still wish this was a true Jay electronica solo.

Favorite tracks are Universal Soldier, Blinding, Neverending Story 2nd half, and APIDTA.

Fruits of the Spirit I wish had been longer. I’ve always loved that sample.

I wonder about that Flux Capacitor track name. Alchemist always trolls interviewers that ask them what beat machine he uses and he tells them it’s a flux capacitor. Anyways...I don’t love that track. It sounds a little busy.

I really hate to say this, because I don’t want to live off nostalgia, but I don’t like anything on here as much as I like exhibit A and exhibit C

Jay Electronica is in my top 5 and yes I would’ve preferred less Hov but

jay and Nas are the two goats so having a hov and jay album is damn near amazing man! If you love hip hop this is perfect.

lyrically the album is perfect man I spun it 5 times before I passed out lol they both are on their game

the only flaw is the production which is still good jay Electronica did a great job but some of the stuff just blaze has played in the past were out of this world

solid album man this and ransom ep have been a blessing straight bars

Lyrics are fine but the beats idk needs some drums, and some soul....ironically the album feels lifeless

Some of the lyrics would have hit harder over better beats..but i'll give another listen during the weekend

Needs just blaze to give it some spark..feels bland

Jay-Z is going to get a LOT of credit for this album and he deserves it. This is why I was kind of aggy when it was announced it was a joint album. If Jay Elect had been able to drop his debut when the OG Act 2 Tracklisting came out and THEN did a Hov collab album it would have stood more fairly but for this to be Jay Elect’s proper debut and with a FIFTY year old Hov absolutely killing his verses, and his flow so effortless, there are going to be unfair comparisons.


Seriously, i’m super impressed with Hov’s rapping on this album, and not like I didn’t think he still had it in him because I felt 4:44 was a classic. But to just do it so effortlessly. You can HEAR Jay Elect trying his absolute damndest on a few of his verses to keep up. Jay-Z is just supremely talented. His only real competition on the Mic is Nas, Black Thought, and Lupe Fiasco.
