Yeah Nas is at bare minimum one of 3 rappers that I toss around, depending when you ask me, as the greatest of all time...but only one of two options exist in regards to this

1. Jay Elect wrote them shyts

or

2. Nas for whatever reason decided to do his best Jay Elect impersonations on those two tracks


Everything about the shyt is suspect...the fact that Nas randomly has Jay Electronica, a rapper not known for making beats for anyone, “produce” songs for him (to my knowledge, he has approximately ZERO production credits on any other project)....the fact when the whole controversy popped off, Jay himself gave a politician like non-denial

Note that nowhere in this statement does he actually deny writing the songs.... “not needing a ghostwriter” and “I never wrote for Nas” are two very separate ideas...maybe in a vaccum I could disregard that kinda carefully parsed language as whatever...but I’d be doing nothing but lying to myself to pretend I don’t know which way I think this shyt slides down occam’s razor

but I can see this going from being a sleeper hit to certified GOAT for the decade.

There’s some truth in that, but dope beats and dope rhymes never go out of fashion. If the music is fresh then it’s a win for hip-hop. Fans get dope music and emcees and producers get inspired.

All that assumes the album is good, obviously.

This has always been a ridiculous line of thought. Queens get the money is Nas dissing 50 Cent, explaining why he named the album ******, throwing shots at those who only want to hear him spit Illmatic bars, and boasting about how he’s the only one worthy of tackling the subject matter. Your telling me Nas needs Jay fukking Electronica to ghostwrite on topics he’d already literally been rapping about for at least 8-10 years prior?

No, it's not. Y'all weirdos been running with this unsubstantiated claim for years and still have zero shred of evidence. You want it to be one way but it simply isn't. Jay Elec didn't write verses for Nas. Leave that bullshyt alone already.

Claim Nas got ghostwritten verses from somebody that took a large part of his style from Nas, because Nas sounds like the person who took a large part of his style from ass nikkas.
