It ain’t about the album being “different”. Even as far as production. I think Roc Marci is the GOAT of the 2010s and his production is different as fukk. But my issue is this album feels kinda rushed and incomplete. No constant theme. Seems like songs thrown together. The nikka Jay Z got more verses than Jay Elect on the album. And Jay Z been dropping albums since 1996 and still had enough in his tank to match and even outshine Jay Elect on most of the tracks. Except when Jay Elect REALLY gets in his bag lyrically. And I’m pretty sure this some shyt Jay kinda just wrote some shyt for to make sure it came out. Prolly wasn’t even as focused as he could get. To me. It’s a decent project. Not really amazing. Doesn’t really feel like an album. And Hov got way too much airplay for this to be a DEBUT album. 3.5 out of 5.

I agree, some people are just use the same typical hiphop production and hear something different they think its garbage or hard to listen to. Or listeners have to wait until kendrick spits over the abstract beats.

I'll play Devil's Advocate here, because I understand why some people aren't rocking with it. The closest thing I can compare hearing Exhibit C for the first time to is being in the theatre on opening night for the moment in 'Endgame' where Captain America throws Thor's hammer for the first time

shyt had me :ohhh:...:gladbron:....:krs:....:ohlawd:....:mindblown:, and judging by the reaction when it dropped with the thousand freestyles that followed, everyone else felt that way too.

We already knew that Jay and Just together was a problem from Exhibit A, but that shyt hit a whole new gear for them. I get why people would want to hear 12 tracks of that over 'AWT'.

Not getting more feels like there was this really dope dialogue that a rapper and producer were having on some 'Premier/Guru: The Next Generation' shyt that got cut short.

This is my bag, though - I have pretty broad tastes so this joint falls squarely into my personal definition of 'typical hip-hop' :manny:.

btw this is supreme level Hotep Hov. This is the hardest I’ve heard him go in on the teachings. This that chase the devils out of Africa raps.

also the fact Hov and Elec have the teachings in common caused Elec to sign with Roc over Diddy and BadBoy.

This album is contemplative, evocative, personal. Beautiful. I can see being disappointed if you expected or wanted more Exhibit A/B/C tracks of him talking shyt. I can also sense, perhaps, why Hov is all over this album. Not only doesn't this have singles...it doesn't even have production that would appeal to the masses. There's a Travis track/beat but that seems like one of the few attempts at any mainstream recognition/streams. No, Hov is on this album not only because they clearly have chemistry and work well together...but it really feels like the only reason we're hearing this is because Hov is on it. Without that involvement, this would have likely remained a personal project we'd never hear.

The great thing about Jay Elect to me has always been that his highs are elite tier, and his lows are pretty much nonexistent. So you're constantly getting good to classic tier material. Even when he falls into his repetitive/predictable rhyme patterns at times, the lyrics guide him through. This is a great album. Is it the greatest thing ever, or what I expected/wanted 10 years ago? No. But if you came to me x years ago and told me the album would come out and be more Better In Tune With The Infinite than Exhibit C...how could I possibly be upset or disappointed? That's what this is.

The 10% do not believe in a spook. They TEACH the 85% of an invisible spook god to have power over the 85%.
"Believe" is not in the 5% vocabulary. As it means there's a degree of doubt and we speak on what we know.

The 5% teach of the true and LIVING God. WD Fard is not on this planet in 2020. The 85% believe in a spook that cannot be seen by the physical eye. Again, this describes the NOI who sees WD Fard as God and prays to him.

We are not the same.
