I'm going to be 40 years old next month. Still behave the same way i did when i was 16.
Never held me back in the slightest. i'm educated, successful, and doing just fine. Never felt like you earned any extra points "acting grown"
Still love my video games, still smoke weed, still got the same hobbies and interests. Stil have a great relationship with my family, still a great dad to my daughter.

The whole maturity thing is just for its own sake. If you feel better about yourself because you very mature, wizened and gentlemanly in your disposition ,that's great. but its not a secret to any sort of success or anything. Plenty of people more mature than me struggling out there. Maturity isn't going to save them.

Mature and Responsible aren't the same thing.
Being Mature and having a drive to be successful aren't the same thing.

:russ:Troy Lanez's father talking about mentoring boys into men?....

Sir, your son is in prison.
:francis:
He really needs to sit down, but seriously it's because of the economy. it's taking people longer to get into an adult life. Until then it's Arrested Development and it's not just men.

That's not Tory Lanez pops. Look him up. Dude is legit. He's not passing judgement, just showing a mirror to our society and suggesting that we model the man we'd want our sons to be.

He's an advocate for men being whole, not the boxed in and constrained man that we learned from the unhealed scars of our models.

I'd encourage everyone to read his book, The Man The Moment Demands. Read it with your son(s), your wife, your mother, your father, your daughter(s)

Who's been raising them?
Who's been funding it?
Who enshrined that in legal bias?
Who's been benefiting from it?

What do you mean by the bolded?

:jbhmm:

You act the exact same? No improvement? No changes? No growth? No refinement?

Maturity by its definition is refinement, it's mental and process improvement, it's discipline, it's increased capacity and capability.

If you haven't improved in any of those areas since you were 16 (which you may have) then youve wasted 25 years of time to increase capacity and capability to be even better than you are right now.

I see 40+ men less mature than I was at 16 and it's part of the reason our community is in the mess it's in. You cant mentor a 16 year old young man when you act like him. It gives him nothing to aspire to if youre an older, slower, potentially out of touch version of him with nothing to give back.

I see what he's saying. Unfortunately this will always be a problem to some extent. I can only control myself and my life, but no human will ever be perfect. Even a mature person will convert to childish behavior if you push the right buttons.

Social contract has changed irrevocably.

Cannot EXPECT the general populace of men to embody traditional masculine ideals when the challenges they face are a sign of the times.
