They've been without their second best for a season and a half now so I can't fault Kidd too much but he just wasn't a very good coach. I think former players should wait a year before becoming head coaches
The same people who tell you Jason Kidd can’t coach and deserved to be fired are the same people who will tell you Rick Carlisle is doing a good job with his team even though he plays Devin Harris, Yogi Farrell and JJ Barea at the same time down the stretch in games

I don’t think people realize how hindering Kidd was as a coach. In addition to awful rotations where he’s giving a bum like Liggins a shyt, can you name any of their young players he’s developed outside Brogdon. Vaughn and Wilson are rotting. Thon looks lost. And their defense is just infuriating. Like others have said, they’ve got the length and athleticism to be dominant on the end. And statistically in some categories they are. But their scheme was busted and had been ever since Kidd arrived. Constant loading up on the strong side. Sending guys flying to help on rolls to the rim or post ups. I was watching that game against the heat last week. I watched Bledsoe help Giannis with a Winslow post up, leaving Ellington wide open. I watched Giannis rotate to help Della on Dragic, allowing his man to back cut him for an easy layup. Defensive breakdowns like that happen all the time. Kerr’s mediocrity as an in-game coach has been proven time and time again. He’s decent when he has time to prepare, but heaven forbid someone gets in foul trouble or hurt.
