They're spreading the remainder of his contract out over several years so they will actually have some money to spend this off season.

Right now Santana's value is at an all time low, unless he pitches like a #3 the 1st half, we won't get anything of value for him. I'd still try to trade him if he pitches well this year though.

I'm just glad he is off the team and I don't have to see his terrible at bats...all of us mets fans expect him to return to 30 and 100 numbers bc that's just how it goes but he wasn't gonna do it here...ever
