Takuya Nomura vs Yuya Aoki - BJW Strong Heavyweight Title 11/16/21

Very good title defense by Nomura that couldn't quite reach great levels due to two things: he lets Aoki get into too many annoying "fighting spirit" troupes (Aoki's main weakness as a wrestler, imo) and Korakuen is just ok as a crowd, they couldn't get that magic going this time around. This was fought as it was supposed to, the two main future stars in the company going at it for the main belt for the first time. They have some very dope sequences in the mat and some really good strikes exchanges, but they also lean too heavily into the "your turn-my turn" style that I'm not too fond of and they are not able to make the best version of that kind of matchup. Not as good as their Strong Climb match almost 4 years ago but you can tell they'll have a classic against each other at some point.

More so the country lockdown and extra precautions which is kinda fukking up the promotion, since gaijins are one of the biggest parts of NJPW. As far as who has covid, I have no clue other than those who had it earlier this year.

It's amazing, honestly. Usually when WK comes around, I'd at least be hyped to see the big matches at some point, but now, I couldn't give a shyt. They've been beaten down bad by a combination of COVID, Japanese policy regarding COVID, and their own idiotic mistakes over the years. It's not the end of the world or anything, but this used to be the hottest promotion in the world 3-4 years ago and now it might be the first or second coldest.

They need to think very seriously about changing things up in that company. Then again, we've been banging that drum in here for a few years now, so

Like I've said, they should just create a pure grappling division for Shibata. He can make it work for 3-5 years, can get a whole bunch of people to work with him (young lions, legends, gaijin, even King of Sports fukkery and people with some MMA or wrestling backround, etc), it's the kind of novelty this promotion needs.
