Haven't been able to watch a lot of both of Big Japan shows in Yokohama last weekend (last time they'll ever ran that building). A couple of good tags but nothing that really stood out so far.

But I had to check this as soon as it was online.

Takuya Nomura vs Minoru Suzuki - BJW 08/30/2020

The story here is MiSu absolutely knows he's above Big Japan and certainly above Takuya da Young Gawd. So it's on Nomura to make this worth your time, and he quickly does. Kicking MiSu in the face and establishing he's here to fight. And fight they do. Loved MiSu laughing, having a good time and beating the shyt out of Takuya. It was basically "oh so you wanna fight, aight then". The difference in elbows was massive, really liked how that played a big part in MiSu never really losing control of the match. At the end of the day, the kid is not ready to go toe to toe with Satan himself...yet. But he sure will try to make the most of it: he actually won the slap exchange :banderas:

Would LOVE to see Astronauts facing MiSu and someone else so we could see Abe and Suzuki go at it. He did stood up to him during this match...

For someone that doesn't know Nomura, this will be a fun little match. For us that have been following him since day 1, this was a blast @Scottie Drippin @PlayerNinety_Nine @SubZeroDegrees @TheGodling @Legal @EL REY @The Rainmaker @TrueEpic08

The disrespect. Didn't even give him the proper scowl... nothing.

Suzuki vs Nomura was a short but good match. Definitely loved the simple storytelling with Suzuki looking for reasons to give a shyt about this match.

The main event though... :banderas: Easily one of my favorite matches of the year. It's really a big tag team spot fest but the pacing really takes it to a higher level. Sekimoto is in full Final Boss Mode here, spending a good time of the first half of the match eating offense like Cheerios and wearing down Hyodo's stamina. Of course there's also a bunch of chest hammering involved. Okabayashi and Nakanoue go slightly more technical but it's still very much playing like a powerhouse stand-off. Nakanoue and Aoki also bring just a little bit of high flying into the match to separate from all the hoss match-ups. The end sprint is predictable but gets the job done.

Sukuzi the GOAT invader :wow:

The match was good and it actually made Takuya strong despite the mismatch. He got a good amount of offense on Minoru and won the slap battle. Young Gawd got to work on his elbow tho.

I've noticed this in a lot of promotions, and specially in Big Japan were the young guys have very weak elbow strikes and takes them to either take a beating and be challenged by their opponents or just get older and a higher status to start landing some stiff elbows. Kohei Sato fukking blows people head off and is always "teaching the kids a lesson" with his elbows. I wonder if it's a hierarchy thing...

MiSu's were fukking vicious though, not a better way to show the difference between them :russ:

It most likely is. I really think there's nothing that would piss off Suzuki more than a rookie not properly respecting him.

What a match. It felt like a rookie trying to prove himself to the substitute karate teacher. And he did.

Although, at the end, Suzuki looked at him like saying "If you don't bow to me I'm gonna get back into that ring". Luckily, Nomura did.

Of course, you all discussed Yehi in the ROH Pure tourney...
I've sadly haven't been able to see much of his work in the past year+ but I'd always thought he was one the most underrated talents on the plant and the best black wrestler alive, at least from 16'-19'. I've never understood how the fukk he never got a bigger chance in the companies he's worked with nor why he has never been able to burst out of the deep indy scene he's been in.
Agreed.

He did an AMA, and I was too late to ask anything, but he explained why he was kind of languishing for years.

I replied to that comment, to tell him about TSC believing.

He came back through and responded!
