Something I don't understand about Baba's booking in the 70s and 80s:


During both the CC and RWTL, opponents in the tournament would have non tournament matches against each other on the tour....so on the RWTL tour, Brody/Hansen vs Jumbo/Tenryu might happen 3-4 times, but only once as a tournament match.

I didn't realize Morishima and Marufuji debuted in AJPW before the exodus. I knew about KENTA got in a few matches, but Morishima and Marufuji actually had about 2 years of young lion time in All Japan.


I also was not aware that Kento cut his teeth in NOAH

literally every Choshu/Ishin Gundan match has a fukk finish and 5+ minute pull apart brawl afterwards

Also at how juiced up the Bulldogs are. Davey especially is completely blown up after the first or second set of spots in every match I've seen from him in this AJ run

Most of the Choshu vs Jumbo tags aren't really about stories as much as character/personality interactions, which means many of the matches are pretty much the same in terms of spots and lay out but it doesn't matter and the crowds stay hot for all of them. This very much carried over to the Jumbo vs Misawa era in the same way and is

Choshu has the least amount of chemistry with Flair than any puro dude I've seen Flair defend the title against in the 80s.
