They're going to be shut down long enough they can strip all the champions, NJ Cup for the IC title, G1 for the IWGP title.

Okada wins both, of course.

Snuka/Steamboat had fantastic chemistry. Just two bodied up island boys flying around trying to kill each other :blessed:

Baba/Jumbo vs Tenryu/Robinson

This is one of those matches that changes the course of the company, imo, as it was Tenryu's real coming out party and the spark between Tenryu/Jumbo is electric and undeniable. Up to this point I think they had only had a single match against each other, back in 1977, and every other time they were in the ring together, it was as partners. Btw BOBBY HEENAN did a AJPW tour in 1981 and there's a Jumbo/Tenryu vs Brain/Zbyszko match that went down, but it appears that none of Bobby's matches made it to the Archive :wow:

Anyway, Tenryu is still young and still finding himself, but a lot of flashes of his future grumpy self and spots pop up all throughout this, and after this he starts getting big singles matches including a title shot against Flair. He'll still be teaming with Jumbo off and on for a few years, but I think this is the match he finally stepped up and showed he was deserving of the attention Baba had given him since recruiting him and that a future star was born.
