@Jmare007

saw takuya nomura vs daichi hashimoto

Nomura is pretty good. You can tell he's inspired by KENTA/Shibata a little bit.

Yeah, specially Shibata. The young gawd is awesome :lawd: did you watch the match they had this year or last year? the one from 18' is better.

Watch his match with Fuminori Abe (another awesome young talent) from february last year :myman:

Seems like one of Sasha's conditions to come back is for them to let her live all of her's weeb dreams.

Too lazy to start a thread, but today is a worldwide wrestling holiday, it's God's birthday :wow: :lawd:

@Beautiful Bobby Eatin what have been your favorite old school matches from God after doing that deep dive on his old stuff?

Funks v Bock/Brunzell
Funk v Hansen '82
Funk v Brody '82
Funks v Hansen/Brody '82
Funk v Hansen '83
Funks v Hansen/Brody '83
Funk v Bockwinkel '83
Funks v Hansen/Gordy '83 (Terry's Retirement Match :russ:)

There's some more stuff when he comes back in '85 but other than a Choshu match in '86 that's much the greatest hits of his 80's AJ stuff.

The main thing I learned from watching this old stuff is I don't care for Dory at all.

Now I want to make a compilation of all of Terry's retirement matches :ohhh:

Makes sense for Jun to step down as president, I do wonder if he'll continue to have the book though.

Regarding Sasha's trip to Japan...

Oh damn breh no one put you on this match before?

How much 90's AJ have you seen? I'll hit you with a list of things to see. I say that because this is usually one of the first matches people come across when they're watching peak era AJ. Famous match. One of the hottest crowds there's ever been.

For a little background, the match is in Kikuchi's hometown. That coupled with him being the ultimate underdog babyface, and the Can-Ams being on a hell of a run in AJ for about 3-4 years by this time is the recipe for that crazed reaction.

And the main reason a name like Kikuchi doesn't come up is AJ didn't really give a shyt about Jr's in the 90's. Meanwhile jr heavyweight wrestling is going through an eruption basically everywhere else in the world.

One tip. With a lot of things I guess but really especially AJ (and current NJ), would be to watch things in chronological order. And also watch the build-up tags snd 6-mans before the big showdowns.

AJ's King's Road style is really based upon building on what came before it. So basically any time two given dudes faced off might have a response or set-up in one of the big tentpole matches.

You also really get the story behind stuff to really sink into it instead of just bell to bell.

Things like Dr Death and then Hansen having Misawa's number and he trying to figure them out, or Kawada's increased frustration and desperation to beat Misawa, or Taue's ability to out bomb anyone, or the disintegration of Akiyama and Misawa's relationship really mean a lot to their matches and might get lost if you don't follow chronologically.
