Was going through some old post and I'm at how little faith people had in Naito after his failed mega push. I think the only thing I've ever being 100% right about in wrestling was him and the heel turn he needed.

But most importantly, motherfukking at how much this thread has grown. November 2013 was page 18, January 2015 was page 36 and May 2017 is page 159

Nah breh. I was saying, as far as 2013, that Gedo should stop his bullshyt and smarten up . After it was obvious his super face push was going to fail by late 2013 I was pushing for the idea of turning Naito heel with a good gimmick the same way Choshu did Chono. It took almost 2 years for Gedo to finally let him go to Mexico and repackage his character like Nakamura

@Don Ibiza Ibrahimovic who do you think will challenge Takeshyta in August at Sumo Hall? I guess his July defense will be against whoever wins the King Of DDT tournament and then the field is wide open. I think they need a big name like Ibushi but that doesn't seem likely at all right now who do you think will be booked to draw a good number? maybe they go the in house route for Takeshyta and book an outsider for another match?

I don't know how or why he was given (or allowed to have) a Yakuza gimmick - or something resembling that - all I know is that his failure of a run as a babyface champ in 92' plus his neck injury were the things that triggered Choshu to turn him heel by mid 94'.

Yeah i always found it quite strange. On top of that he started Aristrist based off of that style. Last I saw he was even able to STILL sell NWO shirts on the website. This is years after WWE bought WCW.

That was the story I'd heard, can't remember where, going way back. Chono was a Yakuza endorsed/sponsored dude as the figures who were rinsing money through NJ fukked with him.
