Definitely disagree. That one is prob my favorite Inoki/Andre match, although it isn't as good as the Seiji/Andre match I watched right before it. Andre in the 70s is so fukking good. Dude was seriously magical and it is a shame most people only remember his late 80s WWF run where he was physically completely shot and couldn't do much of anything because he was in agony all the time. Actually, same can be said for Adrian Adonis. I have Adonis/Murdoch vs Inoki/Fujinami going up as well, and it is GREAT. So sad people only remember him for dressing like a woman and feuding with Piper. Dude was so good. He could do absolutely everything and was so fast for a dude his size and in the weird shape he was in.

I fukking LOVE prime Andre, not that big of a fan of his matches with Inoki though. The 78' match is fine but never really grabbed me, I thought the other two were more fun. The NWA Classics stuff with him is awesome, check it out if you have the time.

Never made a deep dive on Adonis, though every time I see a pimped match from him it's always at least good. He has arguably Backlund's best WWF title defense and that feud with Buddy Rose is :wow: he would be my favorite bumper if it wasn't for Slaughter.

SWS/WWF Wrestle Dream In Kobe

Definitely a lesser seen SWS/WWF show, and it is basically a taped house show 2 days after Wrestlefest in the Tokyo Dome.

Savage vs Tenryu
Hogan vs Yatsu
Hart vs Takano
Tenta vs Kitao that turned into a shoot because Kitao was a c*nt.
Fujiwara tooling some dude.
Sano vs Funaki

There was a Suzuki match on this card, but I could find the video of it. 8 matches, all included for your viewing pleasures.

BOSJ is mostly NJ exclusive with a couple guests. Super J-cup takes wrestlers from various promotions.

That, and

BOSJ is an annual Junior tournament held in New Japan.

Super J Cup is an interpromotional Junior tourney held very rarely by the wrestler/promotion that has the resources to do it.

Also, Super J Cup is a 1 night tourney. BOSJ is a whole tour.

Man, there are two things Japan will ALWAYS have over American pro wrestling:

Burly dudes beating the shyt out of each other with lariats:

And c*nty old vets vs young boys/juniors matches:

KENTA vs Misawa/Kobashi/Tenryu is just the best shyt. A shame America never really embraced these kinds of matches. The KENTA vs Kobashi match where KENTA hits the reverse G2S is so great.

Absolutely this. And its great about the old vets vs the young lions because virtually every major star has had to go through it. WWE is KIND OF doing this with Brock now but it wont be anywhere near this effective.

It's too bad Kenta never really bulked up. He would have looked more believable fighting heavyweights.

He also was unlucky coming up on the tail end of traditional puro still being very rigid in it's booking. Had KENTA debuted in 07' he'd probably be an established heavyweight without much :whoa: from the crowd and people running things.

It took 10 years for promotions to figure out business was so shytty that they needed to push whomever had "it" and worry less about weight and perception because casual fans were not coming back.

I don't think he could have bulked up much. KENTA Itami is a tiny dude. Absolutely dwarfed in size by the Misawa/Kobashi/Akiyama generation that came before him. shyt, he looked pretty short even when next to Kawada, who was much shorter than the other guys of his group. Like...Daniel Bryan was a heavyweight champion, but he could have put on 30 pounds of muscle and he was always going to be undersized.

It also doesn't help that NOAH was pretty much already dead by the time KENTA truly moved up and became GHC Champion. Hard to be seen as legitimate when you get the title years later than you should, after Misawa died and Kobashi retired, and the company was drawing 1/3rd of what it was a few years prior.
