Interesting the stuff about the convo with Shibata, as well as the Ibushi stuff (including what was posted earlier).
They played this during a commercial on NJPW:
I find it interesting that that's how New Japan looks at it, and that's how they worded it. Gives a little more insight into why he left. I remember reading on another board that the reason he left was because New Japan fired the booker that Shibata was very loyal to. Shibata said something like "my loyalty is to a man, not a business." Apparently the guy was a big booster of the strong style/MMA style of wrestling, and there may have been a power struggle there.
This may have been what Shibata was alluding to when he said that Tanahashi knows exactly why he left. Apparently it wasn't as simple as him just leaving to pursue other things.
