Puro brehs - Just curious - what would you like to see done with Nakamura's character in WWE?:jbhmm:

Let him be crazy and flamboyant like he already is, but then push the idea of "strong style" onto the WWE audience. Don't just do strong style, but really push it by name. Make him out to be the deceptively brutal wrestler from a foreign land bringing in something new and dangerous

Nakamura gotta come in as a bad ass. Dont saddle him with any asian gimmick of any kind. Music, entrance, etc.

Straight up michael jackson style bad ass.

I agree. I totally want to see him as a Heyman client, though. Brock and Nakamura have history after all.

He'd have to be the polar opposite of Brock. A cross between the Andy Warhol of Wrestling and MJ.

I don't know if brehs will get the reference, but think Eric Cantona. He used to play for Man United - he was brilliant, but eccentric. He'd score the illest goals, but one time he karate kicked a fan in the stands. And he used to recite these bizarre poems.

I could see Nakamura on that wave.

Have him get dressed down by the Authority for an opening segment, listen to them rant, then say something zen like:

"When the stork is flying, burdened with glorious purpose, it doesn't worry about the sparrows :mjpls:"

Steph: :wtf:

Hunter: :dahell:

Not that related to your post to honest, but I find it funny how we all use the term "strong style" when that shyt isn't even a real style :heh: it's a tag line New Japan has always marketed to show that their brand of wrestling is better than the rest ("King of Sports uses Strong Style"). Like, you see today's matches and they have nothing in common with the 70's, 80's and 90's besides stiffness...and that shyt can't be considered a damn "style" of wrestling because that can be found anywhere.

We do the same with King's Road style. I guess we are a little more protective of it because 90' to 97' was such an amazing run but up until 2 weeks ago, All Japan was still promoting "King's Road Style" as their brand of wrestling :pachaha:

Puro definitely has a defined way of presenting and delivering a match. Fighting spirit and stiff strikes are a huge part of puroresu and going back to the original topic, a guy like Nakamura should totally be presented as someone that has an unique way of wrestling. But I don't know, I guess having so many people these days bring up "strong style" as a legit thing made me go a little dense on the subject.

You are not totally wrong though. IIRC it was Inoki that coined the "Strong Style" tag line in the 70's when he was having (worked) matches with different martial artists and combat sports people. Like I said in my post, it was Inoki's way of showing that New Japan was the real King Of Sports because no one could surpass his strong style...or something along those lines.

And Inoki having those fukkery matches and teaching the concept of "strong style" in the New Japan dojo was kind of the base for what Maeda, Fujiwara and others would later do with UWF, which then gave it's birth to RINGS, Pancrase and UWF(i) and later led to legit MMA in Japan. Where they basically decided that traditional puro could be shown as a more legit competition and kept evolving.
