God forbid people aren't treated like slaves when they work. What were we thinking trying to be civilized folk?
There's extremes, friend. I agree unions are necessary to avoid 8 years old working 16 hours days in murderous conditions. In the 21st century, however, unions seem to be getting more and more egregious. I've worked in a construction union, and am now in the teacher's union. I could provide lots of examples in which both are becoming detrimental to the productivity of each profession, friend.

We would most likely agree on the extremes. The Police Union is the biggest mafia in this country right now. I have no doubt in mind that you can post examples. But was what you originally listed extreme to you? In a lot of modern countries have much more strict labor rules and their economies and people do fine, including those that work on massive engineering projects.

Yes, I think construction union laws (at least in CT) are extreme. Of course I'm ok with an 8 hour work day, but a mandatory half hour coffee break after you get into work is bizarre. Also, a mandatory hour long lunch. I mean, construction workers typically bring a cooler, eat a quick lunch, have a smoke and then, on union jobs, sit around and bullshyt waiting for the hour to end until they get back to it.

Allowing for a coffee break, and an hour lunch is even rational..but making it mandatory? Dudes thats didn't want coffee literally would just take off their helmet and wait out the 30 minutes like :beli:, and the other dudes would give them the :leostare: like they were some scabs just because they didnt want to down a cup of coffee in 90 degree heat. It was like the twilight zone.

I find it extreme :manny:

mandatory 9:00 coffee break :heh:

mandatory hour for lunch :heh:

Day over at 4:00 :deadmanny:
i once had 9-5 job which our only requirement was getting to work on time 8am (no punching in). from then on we all slept til break at 10 then work for 1/2 and talk til lunch. after lunch we all go to bed til 4pm :dead:. then go around closing up all machines in the plant. then leave at 4:30.
we did that for 2 years.

i was late everyday cause i'd be awake all night cause of sleeping all day. and when i go to bed late at night i couldn't get up on time to be at work at 8.. but i bought the plant manager a laptop so i could do no wrong.

Nah not really, but im fairly familiar with that stretch of 84. Thats gonna be awful. Who keeps okaying these stupid moves? That New Britain-Hartford bus thing is dumb as hell too..started in 2012 , will finish in 2015 if lucky, and cost at least half a billy. :what:
