So, don’t judge me but I was watching old Britney Spears performances last night and I forgot just how much her style and performances were influenced by Janet. Once nipplegate happened, she started acting like Madonna was her biggest influence. But from the jump, you could tell she studied Janet up and down.

Janet inspiring everybody. Legitimately everybody’s blueprint.

From wiki:
Spears has cited her major influences in her career as being Madonna, Janet Jackson, and Whitney Houston, her "three favorite artists" as a child whom she would "sing along to [...] day and night in [her] living room";

She also stated at one point her favorite artist of all-time was Michael Jackson. She even named one of her albums Britney Jean.

I love music in general, so I also love to listen to legends like Britney Spears. There's definitely a lot of influence from Janet. There's a lot of new jack swing in some of her album songs that sound very Rhythm Nation inspired. She really loved that sound and grew up with it:

Then there's this:

That performance was also VERY VERY Janet like. I never got the Madonna comparisons at all. Her stage performances and showmanship were Janet all the way through, up and down.

I wonder what part of the show she's going to perform.. I'm assuming that it's towards the end.

Still crazy how Janet really become a legend and managed to escape her brother’s shadow.

“Control” and “Rhythm Nation” had the slappers. “janet.” had the classic smooth records.

“Velvet Rope” is IMO her best album. Had the perfect balance of it all.

Everything after that is hit or miss...but those 4 albums? Classics...

Of course they waiting to show Janet and we gotta sit through these mediocre white people performing.

On a side note - Normani is gonna go far. She killed it.
