This.

And really, it shouldn't even be an argument. Stats have already been posted that Lemonade sold more physical and with the streaming sales combined and nothing has been posted showing otherwise.

It wouldn't have gotten this far if the facts were accepted that singles are the only thing that Rihanna has over Beyonce.
rih's business ventures have been more successful, rih's fashion lines, shoes, and makeup all >>>> beyonce's attempts to expand :ld:

and, in regards to their aptitude/the type of artist they have tried to be, rihanna (edgy world pop) has made better music than bey (r&b/pop diva). not comparing them head to head, but considering rih has lesser talent (doesnt sing nor perform as well), and isn't as conventionally attractive, she's done better than bey who has had every advantage.

Even if this were true, why do you say it like it’s not a big deal? It essentially means that more people are requesting/listening to Rihanna than Beyoncé.

And you do know Bey isn’t that much ahead of RihRih In album sales.

Her business ventures are neither here or there. I'm talking music. When you put up the stats, Beyonce has the edge. Rihanna easily has Beyonce in regard to singles (number of hits, peak chart positions, and sales of singles). Album wise, Beyonce has sold about 7 million more copies than Rihanna domestically and about 1.5-2 million more globally.

Whose music is better is subjective. Personally, I don't really rock with either's music like that, but Beyonce's last three albums were dope IMO. Objectively speaking, I can play a set with the following Beyonce songs get people on the floor:

Get Me Bodied
Party
Love On Top

I've gotten requests for Rihanna songs and it's nowhere near the same response.

yea, i was just bringing up shyt because rih is quite formidable as an all around celeb, people seem to never want to give her her credit. furthermore, only selling ~2M more albums than rih isn't really a good look given the pedestal bey is placed on and the being the greater talent that an also prop herself up with a better live show.

and at the end of the day people remember your hits. 20-30 years from your prime, people play the hits, your fans may play some of the album cut faves, but the parties, throwback station, reunions play the hits...so diminuating rih as "only having better singles sales" is kinda :patrice:

No offense, but can y’all make a debate thread instead? This ain’t even about Janet anymore.
I tried to make a thread solely on Janet (and her greatness because I have no problem praising an artist without shytting on others), and the subject goes off topic. :snoop::snoop::snoop::snoop:

2 million is a pretty significant number. She's been around longer, but has put out less albums.

Many of the hits that both Rihanna and Beyonce have are forgettable. I mean, Rihanna made Anti because she felt she needed songs that could be played 20-30 years from now. The "timeless" songs feom both artists are lesser hits or songs that were never singles.

And this is why neither could be on the level of a Janet Jackson because she has timeless songs and albums that are still being played 20-30 years later.

I remember it took me yeara to find out the name of this damn song

I would always hear it in the store shopping but would usually only hear the chorus or the ending.

I figured it was Janet but never knew the title until a few months ago.

I like it..so smooth but upbeat :ahh:

Nah neither of them are close to Janet because Janet got lucky with having two of the greatest producers ever in music history

Glad to see an actual non rap discussion on here without people talking about dumb shyt

But your right and truth be told rihanna will become even more popular or acclaimed after this reggae focused album

Especially if she stays down that path in her 30s

Doing that kind of music with new choreography will also show people sheactually can dance and how fluid she can be in that field

Dancing is subjective sometimes. Bey is one of the best performers ever but I won’t be shocked if we see she wouldn’t be able to do dancehall type style of dancing whereas Rih scouts and if Rih is in that mode for the next couple of years that will be shown

And what you said about the business ventures is true. Normani said in a recent interview she probably is the smartest out there. Bey has more money because of the power couple status with jay, and more touring and album sales

In terms of Janet though, Rih and Bey both needed what she had. One or two main producer instead of a dozen different ones.

That doesn’t just go for them but other artists today too

Babyface was writing and producing half of the 90s classics that is why there is a consistent sound

In the 80s Prince had his own sound for himself and producing and writing for other artists and then Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis took what they learned from him and gave it to Janet and Madonna’s producers then copied it and so on...

Today it’s way too diverse and that isn’t always a good thing

Especially when the industry switched from analog to digital. We need more analog style do production
