Better than spending it on dumb jewelry, partying and 15 cars. The man is taking care of what actually makes him rich. Smart investment, but a little excessive..

It's only excessive if the return on investment starts to decrease. :ojflabby:

James Harrison: I spend $400K-$600K on my body per year - CBSSports.com

Sometimes, we refer to the excesses of the rich, professional football player. Sometimes it's an expensive night at the bar. Sometimes it's a ridiculously huge truck. And sometimes it's this.

“My body is what helps me to make money,” new Bengals linebacker James Harrison said Tuesday in his introductory news conference. "Whatever there is that I need to do to try and make myself better or get myself healthy, I'm going to do it. It wouldn't be unreasonable to say that I spend anywhere between $400,000 and $600,000 on body work, as far as taking care of my body, year-in and year-out.”

In case you missed it, I'll copy/paste the quote.

"It wouldn't be unreasonable to say that I spend anywhere between $400,000 and $600,000 on body work, as far as taking care of my body, year-in and year-out.”

In a word, "!!!!"

I mean, I've heard of NFL players treating their bodies like temples, but I didn't realize you'd have to buy the entire congregation as well.

How exactly does one spend a half-million dollars a year on his body, anyway (the most important question being: that can't possibly be worth it, right?)?

“As far as training, I have a hyperbaric chamber,” Harrison said. “I rent a hyperbaric chamber when I'm in Arizona. I have massages, and I bring people in from New York, Arizona to where I'm at. There's that cost. Like I said, I get body work almost every single day except Saturday and Sunday. I have a homeopathic doctor, and I do a lot of homeopathic things. It's just a lot -- supplements, so on and so forth.”

That's a hell of a lot of supplements, though.

Said Harrison: “I've got a masseuse, got an acupuncturist, got a trainer, got another masseuse and another masseuse and a homeopathic doctor. I think that's it.”

As crazy as those figures are, I think we all can agree on this: $500,000 just doesn't go as far as it used to, you know?

I think most people underestimate how much healthcare and body maintenance costs for professional athletes, especially those of nfl, tennis, boxing etc, and them for some of these nikkas they are probably paying for the health of their immediate family.

This is not strictly restricted to Harrison

Spending 500k to make $8-$10 million in a season. (I know he is only getting about $2 million this year)

Still sounds like a good investment to me.

He is still playing, isnt he? Good investment.

Da Hood
nikkaz buy chains that cost that much.

I mean normal people who work out and eat right spend a few THOUSAND a year on it and its to wear a tie mon thru fri and maybe hit da beach wit da shirt off.

So when you look at it like some of you posters said thats about 10% of his income.

If someone said pay 300k on taking care of my body and I would make ONE mil or really 700k. I would do it in a heartbeat :ld:
