That tweet caused a manufactured outrage that eventually led to him leaving his company and the same places that are screaming and crying and defending James Gunn’s tweets were absolutely trashing Colin for that tweet,vying for him to be fired and celebrated when he left. And it’s because he’s a conservative. Now he has lots of political viewpoints I vehemently disagree with and would never defend,but the fact is that was just a harmless joke and the left seized it as a chance to “destroy an enemy.”

I’m completely left and I despise Trump and the like but the left have been weaponizing this for a while. Right wing people have started doing the same.

James Gunn is 51 years old. "I'm a different person now" or whatever doesn't work. It's not like he was some idiot teenager posting this. He was a 40-something grown man with a fully formed brain who knew better but somehow thought being a "provocateur" joking about rape and pedophilia made him edgy and cool. That's a sick mind.

Disney is right to fire him, and people are right to "dogpile" on him for this. You don't get a pass just because you said it a couple of years ago and "I've changed". He posted his thoughts on a very public form of social media, so he obviously wanted an audience, well, he found it. James Gunn is responsible for James Gunn's words. There are repercussions for saying stupid things, whether you were joking or not. So fukk him.

That said, it's sad that Hollywood and the media don't have the same energy for actual pedophilia happening in Hollywood. I guess it's only an issue if you make jokes about it online and it gains traction.
