Do you and your black friends really think you out number the amount of Arab, Indian and Asian minorities in those companies in Silicon Valley.....if you do you buggin, sorry :stopitslime:

And those minorities revere white culture.....:francis:
Lol not out here breh... It's more competition than you think. They don't look up to white culture, those races just partake in the competition very intensely. Asians in Silicon don't have to revere white culture, they are everywhere along the Bay Area peninsula...

Let's cut to the chase, should Google be forced to hire an inferior applicant just because they are black or Hispanic or female? If they are turning away qualified applicants because of race and hiring others, that's a problem but has it been proven that this is the case?

Yes, work is for working...not coddling people's sensibities.

I don't know man, I'm seeing a lot of nonwhites making moves in the tech world...just because they aren't your flavor of nonwhite doesn't mean that's the tech world's problem.

Pretty presumptuous.

You're lowkey saying whites are the only qualified candidates :mjpls:

There's Blacks and Latinos all through Wall Street...they're good enough to work at Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley but, they're too stupid to work in Silicon Valley, huh? :mjpls: There's Black kids graduating from Howard, Hampton, Morehouse, Spelman and FAMU with 3.8-4.0 GPAs every year, then going on to the Ivies and top public universities for JDs, MBAs, and other graduate level degrees. But they're all too dumb to work at Uber huh? :mjpls:

4.0 at Howard != 4.0 at MIT. gpa don't mean much when you're at an interview asked to implement some algorithm on the spot. You'll get exposed.

Respecting cacs? When you are in a work environment everyone is expected to respect everyone. So if that's what you mean by "respecting cacs than sure.

Two of my clients are google employees. One a black lawyer, and the other an Indian woman who leads an entire team of men. They live a stress free life from what I can see. Many many cacs at google work "under them".

FOH. All them cacs in Silicon Valley don't have degrees from MIT.

There's thousands of cacs over there with degrees from U of Maryland, Pitt, U of Illinois, San Jose State, Penn State, Rutgers, Pepperdine, etc. Half of the cofounders of your favorite apps and websites went to these middle of the pack colleges. Yet they're "qualified". FOH with that shyt nikka.

If you good enough to work at elite banks and matriculate through elite graduate programs, you're good enough to work at some funky ass company in the Valley. They just don't want you.

You're saying blacks and Hispanics are too stupid to code.

First of all, fukk outta here.

Second of all, I brought up GS, JP and WS in general because I immediately question the notion that blacks/latinos can't work in tech when those same blacks/latinos work in finance which is just as intensive quantitatively. You don't even need a degree to get into IT. That shows how "hard" it is. Try getting into banking with a HS diploma though. You can teach an 11th grader how to code. Try teaching high school kids options pricing, LBOs, DCF/WACC models, m&a, futures, margin trading, various economic indicators, historic trends, every major deleveraging in recent history, fiscal and monetary policy, currencies, financial statements, etc. Good luck with that shyt.

So blacks/latinos can work in high level finance, learn all this shyt and become polished professionals but they're too stupid to write if statements and functions? Yea. FOH. I don't buy it.

Imo sillicon valley is slowly getting more and more white and homogenous. Got people who would have been in Wall Street joining tech startups instead

There was a engineer at my old job, who quit being a lawyer to try and be a engineer cause he thought he would make better money being a engineer.

And at dudes who really think the only people who can work at google, went to Harvard, Stanford, Yale. I disagree. Most engineers at these big companies went to college in that area. Transplants are less likely to stay at a job long, that is not near their hometown. Employers know this, they try and even it out and hire local kids and transplants. They know the local kids are more likely to stay longer.

And engineering is a field you really don't even have to go to college for. I know people who have learned to code just from buying books and google. The tools are out there, you have to prove your self in your portfolio what you can do... for a employer to hire you. I honestly wish more black people would get into STEM programs, I don't see many black people at any of engineer gigs.

Years ago, at least in ny, I remember it was a East Indian dominated field. But it's been mostly white from my experience the last 7 years.

FOH kid. You have no argument. Dont quote me unless you have something relevant to say.

This isn't a thread about finance, this is a thread about tech and engineering which are completely different fields.

Whites and Asians dominate the latter because they are the ones who primarily pursue careers in those fields. And I don't even know about that because in my job I have met a lot of African engineers. One was a professor, told me oh hey a lot of my students are Indians. Great, well whaddaya know

It's not the job of these tech companies to employ a set percentage of blacks and latinos.

I fukked around in High School and ended up screwing myself up academically in a myriad of ways. It doesn't matter how "smart" I may be, or think I am. I didn't put in the work. Do you think I can waltz up into Google HQ and get a job because the CEO is a South Indian like me? Get the fukk outta here.

But but it's soooooooooooo hard. Minorities aren't qualified for it :skip:

In my bootcamp, a 19 year old kid went through it last year and is now making $70,000 a year. Nineteen. How many fields would allow a 19 year old kid to come out of high school and be making that in one year?
