can't imagine that DJing in the late 80s was paying the mortgage in the 2000s
I read that he wasn't in the Run DMC contract. Also, artists weren't really making dough like that back in the day. We're talking about an era that artists used to brag about driving Audis. If you mentioned an Audi on a trap record today you'd get laughed off of socia media.

He probably did great until the tours slowed down.
The tours didn't slow down, Run didn't want to tour. Run had a rich brother that set him up with a job in Phat Farm. Run also got into church and aligned himself with that crook Bishop Jordan so that was another stream of income. Steven Tyler said during the last year of Jay's life, Run DMC pulled off the tour and he offered them even more money so they could stay. Run didn't want to do it, but DMC and Jay did. I can't blame Run because he was in his late 30s and financially set. He was probably tired of touring. DMC and Jay needed the money though.

In what world are ki's of soft going for over $100k a piece??

:comeon:

You'd have to hand to hand every gram for a hundo and you'd still be three quarters of a million off smh.

These inflated estimations make it look crazy, it paints a picture that you're Pablo and the next thing you know you're jumping on 10 callender's like it's some kinda deal. Scust.

It's more like 150k worth

A judge Friday voided the conviction of one of the two men found guilty of the 2002 killing of Run-DMC star Jam Master Jay, ruling that there wasn’t enough evidence that the man had a motive to kill the hip-hop luminary.

The reversal, which came as the judge upheld the other man’s conviction, marked another stunning and confounding turn in one of the hip-hop world’s most elusive cases. It stymied investigators for nearly two decades before two arrests were made in 2020, and authorities had hailed the 2024 convictions as finally getting justice for one of rap’s pioneers.
