That’s hot take era for you

It’s not new tho it used to be the same thing with the Lakers and I remember when ESPN was doing nothing but Terrell Owens coverage at one time
Windhorst used to do whole podcast about nothing but Lakers trades to help Lebron :mjlol:

That year the spurs eliminated them from playoff contention was WILD

You'd see shyt like "Can the lakers win 14 of their next 16 to get into the playoffs" :mjlol:

Or shyt like "If the Lakers are the 8th seed should the one seed be worried" and then the highlights are AD and Bron scoring a 1000 points against the hornets or some shyt :mjlol:

Cowboys, LeBron, Lakers, etc. these shows likely have analytics that show these topics spike viewership/engagement. Now whether that translates to increased revenue who knows. You can talk about baseball and no one will care or you can talk about the Cowboys and fans, haters, and people like Jalen will all engage.

Every single progesionall sports team has like 15 sites not affiliated with fox or ESPN. You subscribe to a different podcast for every professional sports team and curate a more informative product than you get from ESPN or fox sports so I don't get the point in making this complaint. If ratings dropped whenever cowboys were mentioned they'd stop talking about the Cowboys.
There's a lot of truth in this. The problem is their analytics are based primarily on the ever-shrinking base of cable TV subscribers. Last time I checked, the percentage of men between the ages of 21 and 29 who subscribe to cable TV is around 30%. The demographic of sports fans not watching ESPN is much greater than the small viewership they get, so eventually they are going to have pay attention to something other than Nielsen ratings, which don't really count cord cutters. I know, I spoke with a Nielsen rep a few months ago, trying to get me to participate.

That’s the thing I don’t think talking about them nonstop makes money. It’s just a easy filler topic
The Dallas Cowboys are one of the biggest most rabid fan bases in the country. They think talking about them more will bring ratings which in turn brings money. It’s why they talk more about the Cowboys and Lakers when they lose than a team that wins, especially if they’re a lower market team.

That must have been unbearable. Coming up with all those fantasy scenarios.

People in this thread be like "I'm sick of the media talking about the cowboys why they not talking about my team" :mjcry:

Then they run into the cowboys thread on this website and set up shop for 3 days and spend more time in that thread laughing at the cowboys than they do in their own thread talking about their own team :mjlol:

"Why they not talking about the Texans :mjcry:"

You ever seen a "TEXANS LOSE DAPS AND REPS" thread on the coli:mjlol:

Me neither :mjlol:
Exactly

The heights
Yall can call Jalen salty but it's a reason why espn ratings are going down and people are going to YouTube to watch former nfl players, scouts and random people talk about sports people are getting tired of people talking about the same five topics everyday

That’s who they’re supposed to do that for lol. Like they need them live show numbers to be good too.. otherwise you’re just wasting your time putting shyt on tv to no viewers hoping the YouTube views will help you. Cater to who’s watching you live and let the others tap in on social media later. You’re wasting your time if you’re making this big ass production with mad people behind the scenes for zero views on regular tv but hoping your YouTube numbers are high. Might as well just sit SAS and them in front of an iPhone and upload it to YouTube if online isssll that matters.

The ratings for these type of shows are the same everyday. They dont talk cowboys or lakers and ratings go up lol

Like jalen said its lazy. These shows dont want to talk about Xs & Os for no team. They want narratives

I had First Take on yesterday and they didn't even have a topic for the Texans game :why:

I get that SAS wants to go viral hating the Cowboys but to ignore what Demeco and Stroud did is a disgrace. There's only a few NFL games to cover at this point so get them all in.

Yall lost for even watching that garbage and having expectations.

You get more informative opinions in here

They talk about what they think people want to hear. It’s why people share that stupid shyt Stephen A be doing whenever the Cowboys lose. Show them that you want more topics and they’ll bring them. It’s definitely lazy though and part of the reason I stopped watching all them shows. Win game 1 it’s “could this be the year the Cowboys make the superbowl?” Lose game 2 it’s “Should the Cowboys move on from Dak, blow it up and start over?” shyts super annoying.

Both of us agree ESPN is a business looking to generate revenue. So if your core audience is shrinking year over year, doubling down on your core audience is a fast track to insolvency. Even using industry standard media market analytics. Dallas is the 5th largest media market, but Houston is 6th. No analytics will show that that there are more viewers interested in watching Dallas Cowboy cope over discussion about who is going to win the upcoming Houston/Baltimore game. Discussing all the upcoming games require more research and knowledge, while Cowboy cope only requires a bunch of emotional tirades and speculation.

Why can't it be both? I wouldn't say he is salty as much as he is being a try hard fake rebel. Ratings for everything on TV is down (except NFL games). People talk this "I'm tired of this tired of hearing about the same stuff" shyt but what are they choosing to post about on social media and message boards? What are they looking for on Youtube? These networks aren't just pulling this out their ass.
