Seeing blacks as inferior is must easier to digest than blacks in equal positions or better. That's why films that show blacks as equals or outright fly are panned by critics or bomb(Boomerang; After Earth, Best Man Holiday, Malcolm X, etc). If you don't believe me, just research for yourself.
Don't need to...Will Smith's career pretty much proves that theory wrong. Most every critic directly mentions how UNCOMFORTABLE watching 12YAS was (much like they did with Django). Slavery flicks that remind people how terrible slavery was and serve a purpose outside of serving whatever agenda you're trying to fight at the moment breh.

It's almost like y'all can't see outside the agenda veil you've got covered over your eyes :heh:

But people still saw those films en mass though :heh:
Yeah Will Smith films typically do well, but with all due respect to Will, he's the token nikka that the general population likes. Just like in basketball, most of the players will be referred to as "thugs" "tatted up goons with 1000 baby mamas", but Lebron or Jordan will be the few NBA players that the average person likes. If you don't believe me, just FF to about the 12:00 mark in the video below.

Somebody really said there was a "veil" over our eyes:stopitslime:

nikka please this is the most obvious shyt in the WORLD.

Jaden got good reviews for his fish out of water Karate Kid remake...

Then his father pulls a power move, the type of move EVERY successful family within the realms of Hollywood makes at one point or another, and teams up with his son for a project written, produced, and starring the both of them....

Except THIS time the story doesn't involve a struggling single father going through homelessness, whom, after proving himself to the white man and the powers that finally gets invited to the proverbial seat at the table (yes it was a good movie and based upon true events but that's not my point)

It's about a young black teenager attempting to live up to the legend of his brave, masculine, heroic, and positive father figure, who in turn must put faith in his own child to come through in a crisis situation and reach into the depths of his own soul in order to find the courage and bravery required to overcome.

And all of a sudden it's nepotism, scientologist propaganda, and Jaden is the worst thing to ever happen to acting....

Now to atone for these "sins" Jaden must wear a dress and play a fakkit SLAVE (two of the most emasculating portrayals of a Y chromosomed human being) in a FICTIONAL book about John Brown, not even something that necessarily happened in real life, just another nikka in a dress in yet ANOTHER fukking slave flick.....:comeon:

This shyt is just outright disgusting. This is quite honestly the first time I'd have to say "fukk Will Smith" for allowing this bullshyt to occur involving his own flesh and blood. I really gave Will props for turning down Django and taking a risk with After Earth, which I felt was 10X more progressive for blacks in film making and Hollywood and heroic minority portrayals in general. But now it's like going full retard, it's outright c00nery, it's disheartening. It's fukking RIDICULOUS

Really the most disheartening (and predictable) thing is that people get suckered in by really obvious attention-grabbing headlines like this one and don't bother to do their own research because they're looking for a reason to be outraged. And this shyt has a way of spiraling out along with the outrage. Goes from a boy wearing a potato sack mistaken for a girl to a cross-dressing slave to a cross-dressing gay slave. What's next? A transgender gay slave, I guess.

Of course nikkas don't google and actually learn what this book is about and turn it into some bullshyt.

He wears a potato sack, I guess that is a dress for some of you nikkas in order to escape from slavery. Little slave boys/young men didn't exactly fair well during those times, so he pretended to be a girl.

The book sounds interesting.:ehh:

It's also worth pointing out that the character doesn't do this because he wants to, he does this because some crazy white guy he doesn't know just shot his master, grabbed him and was like "You're coming with me" and confused him for a girl. He's afraid that he's gonna get hurt so he pretends to be a girl in front of Brown. Brown does give him a dress but the entire point is that the character is made to play someone he's not, there's an important thematic context for it.

By the end he has gotten rid of the dress and asserted his status as a man.

Additionally the story is also very satirical so don't take everything at face value?

Plot of the book: The Good Lord Bird - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The memoirs of Henry Shackleford, a slave in Kansas during the Bleeding Kansas era, are discovered in a Delaware church. Henry, nicknamed "Little Onion" for eating a particularly rancid onion, accidentally encounters abolitionist John Brown in a tavern. Brown mistakes Henry for a girl because he wears a dress; Shackleford wears a dress for much of the novel. The two join together, and Henry narrates his encounters with Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, and the events at John Brown's raid on Harpers Ferry. The book is narrated in the first person through Henry.

Man, c'mon now....:snoop:

Breh, I swear there are some simple nikkas that post here. Don't understand the concept of trying to survive during those times.
