fukk outta here

Them nikkas came along starting in 97

And it’s LL Cool J who has every right to say who deserves to be on HIS DJ mt rushmore

This right here.

How can you question someone who started the damn label? Bro's list is based on the founders who built the label and were symbols of what it was and would become.

People think Roc when they see Jay. They think RR when they see X. And Nas was heavily on Columbia forever before being on Def Jam, over a decade later. Everyone L named is associated only with Def Jam. When you think about Def Jam's heyday, you think LL, Slick Rick, PE and the Beasties.

Jay-Z is the most successful rapper of all time. Came in the game just a rapper and flipped that into billionaire status. He should be included.

Jay was very successful. But Def Jam was Def Jam way before he got there.

What LL is saying is that Def Jam was dropping classics 13-14 years before Jay and X even got there. And when you think of golden era Def Jam, he's looking at who made the label take off. Growing up back then as a kid, Def Jam for me, was LL, Slick Rick, EPMD, Redman, Public Enemy and Beastie Boys. That's who we all thought about when speaking on the label. So I get what he's saying.

If anyone deserves to have their opinion on Def jam it's LLfukkin Cool J.

But nevertheless, the point L was making, the flowers deserves to go to those that laid the foundation.

Same issue Snoop had with Pac
When people started making it as if Pac was DTR

Btw Redman's contribution ...in keeping the building up .....is underrated
Warren G too.

Warren G too.

Also Onyx before all that.

They were platinum during a time when dudes didn't really get that far on Def Jam. Russell said Def Jam was able to get the UMG deal in '94-'95 because of Onyx. That second wave of Def Jam with Redman, Onyx, Warren G, and Method Man kept the lights on there and got them new deals.

This is effectively saying only pioneers belong. Nobody that comes after the pioneers belong even if they further rap as a whole and pave a way for much more success in rap as a whole.

This is the whole nobody will ever be better than Jordan argument shifted from Basketball to Hip Hop. The people that grew up on Jordan will never admit that players that came after him might be very well more talented.

didn’t watch the video but there’s no reason why Nas should be on there. The others have a case but he seemed to be repping bus generation.

Nas has been the king of hip hop for MULTIPLE generations!!!!!!
He is the only artist in history to do that!!

:dahell: Being a billionaire (or marrying Beyonce) is not an argument to be included in DJ Mount Rushmore
Jay-Z is Def Jam's moist successful artist is he not? He's also the most successful solo rapper in general. He didn't achieve that when he was on Priority did he?
