Coli not finna like this one.

J. Cole talks about the first time he heard Drake back in '08 and how much he 'changed the game' and impacted the culture 🔥🫂

"It was one dude in particular that I remember seeing on MySpace, and he was this light-skinned R&B looking n*gga, but he had raps. It was kind of neo-soul type raps, but he was talking about women or something. The n*gga's whole demeanor was hella smooth."

"So the second I heard 'Say What's Real', I was blown away because of how good it was. Subconsciously I was like, 'There was someone else out there the whole time that was working maybe just as hard as I was working."

"Literally the next week we were in Miami or some shyt for spring break, and not only were we playing that shyt the whole ride down, but when we got to Miami everybody was playing f*cking Drake 'So Far Gone'. And you could see right away, 'Oh sh*t! This is a f*cking phenomenal shift!"

"I'm not even anybody yet. And this n*gga's off to the races with hits, like cultural-shifting shyt. At that moment, I had to shift my mindset about what The Warm Up was about to be cause Drake just changed the game"

Listened to the first episode and it was quite enjoyable :obama:

I’m actually looking forward to listening to his stories about the creation process of “The Warm Up” and “Friday Night Lights.”

Hopefully he’ll upload the “Truly Yours” mixtape compilation as well.

Not mad at this…

But I think Elliott Wilson said it perfectly..

Elliot is in his 50s still using lightskin as an insult and he's lightskin

Is he releasing a mixtape each episode debut

The Come Up and The Warm up is on DSPs
Doubtful. This is all promo to lead up to The Fall Off

The podcast is really good and brings me back to that 08-2010 time period where 2dopeboyz reigned supreme and it felt like we were discovering the new leaders of the next generation of rap in real time. Cole, Drake, Charles Hamilton, Krit, Wale, Big Sean, QUest, Kendrick, Danny Swain were all making noise. Then a little later came Nicki, Cyhi, and Meek Mill. Cole stood out because you could tell how much he wanted it. He came off extremely sincere and you wanted to root for him. He was the everyman who also had the talent to back it up.

Sucks that Kendrick is about to swallow up all the hype, especially if he drops ANOTHER project soon. The year is his. Kinda wish Cole had pushed this whole rollout to early next year because it deserves better.
