This was a big moment for sure. 2014 was way different time. Drake was way up, and Cole had his defining moment with this. The production was perfect, the content and themes were really timely for people who were 29, like me at that time. Even if you didn't go to school, Cole was kind of a balance between Drake and Kendrick.

My favorite song was the one with that breakdown at the end. edit: Apparently --I can remember my homie doing that George W Bush impression from No Role Modelz over and over. I can't exactly get to why it was a special moment in the game, probably just as you are getting to 30, this album delivered the kind of content that felt reflective and immediate to our lives. A little bittersweet, a little ambitious. Very refective. I can see now that the content is also reassuring. In my friend group, I think this was when we would have been starting to look at 10 years from high school. Our reunion was that year.

actually my favorite J Cole of all time might be 03 Adolescence
One of my favorites, that joint is real af, I actually have a friend of mine who says its his favorite Cole song too. It really encapsulates who he is perfectly in a song.

4YEO is my favorite Cole album. THATS the one that made him a legend in my book.
That’s probably one of his most divisive albums. I think the sound and approach was so left and mature from what he did on FHD that I was disappointed. Overtime it’s looked at as a hidden jewel in his discography. A very cohesive excellent album imo. I think releasing False Prophets/ everybody dies leading up to its release kind of confused me.

This was all planned at least a year ago. The podcast is REALLY good too it just sucks that him kissing Kenny’s rings seems to have taken the enthusiasm out of his current moves because if none of that had ever happened this would be looked at as a MASTERFUL rollout

I never understood the weird shyt against cole when it comes to the Kendrick shyt. Kendrick wpuld not have been able to to J cole like that at all. Dude backed down because he wasn't feeling it. It is what it is. He also got the call and kendrick told him it was personal and stay out of it.

Imagine a beef with Cole and Kendrick with J cole crafting a whole song about having to save Kendrick from Diddy in this climate. I'm pretty sure kendrick would lose

Also cant believe its been 10years. This album is my shyt

Cole spent the last half decade claiming he was the best and ready to eat any rapper alive and soon as he got the call or heads up or whatever he folded. FOLDED. Thats the issue. I don’t give a fukk what call he got, NO rapper is supposed to have a self proclaimed GOAT candidate apologizing live on stage in front of God, Queen and country. If Cole didn’t want to be in it he should have never have released 7 Minute Drill. The moment he put that song out it was up to him to stand on it. PERIOD.

But we’re rehashing the past. Its over now and Kendrick stands as the King on the hill while Drake ran to his Lawyer and Cole looks like the boy who cried GOAT.

Also, I was in South of France in 2015, and St.Tropez probably helped inspire me to make it over there

Knowing me I was like I can't listen to this shyt if I haven't been lol

Still find it crazy that he was sitting on "Wet Dreamz" since The Warm Up waiting for the right project.

Sitting on that record before having your deal is insane. This album made Cole a legend like Nas after I Am… or Hov after Vol2. The buzz was so heavy after this 4YEO sold 490k first week
Wet dreams only works because it was released by Cole in 2014. There’s nothing special about that song
