I, for one, welcome our new space overlords.
A classic worthy modern rap album.

This record came about at a time when I was getting out of the loop with current music. Up until then, I was very 'current'. I knew what was released almost every week. Actively looking out for new stuff. This is probably the last record during my "impressionable" years.

So many memorable moment by Cole

The hilarious Wet Dreamz
The quotable No Role Modelz
The opening January 28th
The very meaningful song Love Yours

And a lot of good ones too i should go back and check out.

This record put J. Cole in the now famous 'Big Three' and solified him as a true Hip Hop star.

this the one where J Fold was talkin about him having the crown and a whole bunch of other grimey shyt. talkin bout killin niccas (metaphorically ofc).....

10 years later, this nikka fold is revealed soft as mushu pork. fades into the background

then he drops a song where he's back to sneak dissin

and having all his re-releases and podcasts gettin stepped on by Kendrick's drop.
I cant put this nikka in Top3 because right now its only a top 2: kendrick, future

This was a big moment for sure. 2014 was way different time. Drake was way up, and Cole had his defining moment with this. The production was perfect, the content and themes were really timely for people who were 29, like me at that time. Even if you didn't go to school, Cole was kind of a balance between Drake and Kendrick.

My favorite song was the one with that breakdown at the end. edit: Apparently --I can remember my homie doing that George W Bush impression from No Role Modelz over and over. I can't exactly get to why it was a special moment in the game, probably just as you are getting to 30, this album delivered the kind of content that felt reflective and immediate to our lives. A little bittersweet, a little ambitious. Very refective. I can see now that the content is also reassuring. In my friend group, I think this was when we would have been starting to look at 10 years from high school. Our reunion was that year.

actually my favorite J Cole of all time might be 03 Adolescence
