See you had to make a thread for your circle jerk.
Popo isn't even a human. Hes a magical genie alien thing. There are actual black people in the show and they don't look like him.
But if you want to make Popo a black man because that's what you see in you're mind do what you want but I will have no part in this. It speaks more volumes about how you see black people and yourself than the racial context of the character
:snoop: He's imaged after the Moors in a racist way. You think they just made this shyt up and has no relation?

What the hell is going on with some of you.

One word: 4Kids
So him appear as a sambo in the original broadcast means he was clearly offensive to someone.

So offensive that they had to change his color for the rebroadcast :jbhmm:

And people are in here providing more than one proof of evidence of how blacks are represented in DBZ.

But once again, Mr Popo isn't inspired by the racist caricatures of early 1900's American entertainment?:comeon:

So if he isn't a black caricature, please explain why they changed his color in recent DBZ episodes for kids..
They also did that for Pokemon..
OG Dragonball had some real offense shyt in it but I'll let you cook...

Cuz the people that did see it, complained and had it changed
You can't use a bandwagon argument to change my viewpoint
It's a psychological illness of viewpoint that you would even want to attribute the racist sambo caricature to Popo especially since it's Japanese
Let's focus on cacs who are the root of this racist shyt tbh even if it is supposed to be sambo the fault lies with the western media and it's treatment of blacks if we usurp cacs then this shyt will change and we won't have to worry about if shyt is racist against us because we will be the in control of the system but that's a topic for a another time.

Nah I agree that there may be lots of racist portrayals of black people in anime but I just don't see popo like that but if yall do then :yeshrug:
I kinda see where you are coming from. My dad got me into Anime and DBZ. So when I started watching I didn't know what a sambo was or looked like and I certainly did not think Mr. Popo looked like me or my family members lol.

nikka just shut the hell up :laff:

It's a psychological illness to see a sambo caricature as a sambo caricature :laff:
Do you see a black person as sambo? I don't associate that with black people but you were arguing in the thread where this initiates that Popo was a black man in the thread where it was talking about if anime characters were representative of various races based upon their art styles. You posted Popo as an example of a black person in anime but not as an example of sambo caricature

Then you made this thread trying to defame me by taking things out of context.
You're a clown that seeks attention and rides with the crowd. Doesn't think for themself. (Ad hominem)

Mr Popo is an anime character (human or not) inspired by a negative caricature of black people in America.

Him not being human doesn't change the offensive nature of his physical appearance.

If you don't see that then you don't see it :yeshrug:

Black skin, red lips, but he's not a cheap sambo knockoff according to you

Now as for the human characters in Dragonball Z, there are plenty of examples of what they look like in this thread and in the other thread and they don't look any better than Mr Popo.

Are you willing to admit that the characters Toriyama uses to represent black people in Dragonball Z Are drawn to look similar to blackface?

Nobody convinced me that Mr Popo or the characters from DBZ look racist, I saw them and came to that conclusion myself.
