WWE is the only place that could handle this dude’s personality. He just seems miserable to be around in a close knit space.
Why is it so hard to believe he doesnt watch aew? There’s nothing really intriguing about it or must watch. It’s a product by the marks and for the marks.I call BS about not watching AEW or wrestling period. That goes for any wrestler that says they don't watch anymore. This was something that was a major part of your life, that you sacrificed your body, etc and you completely shut it off? I'm not saying watching weekly but every once awhile tune in to see what's up.
I couldn't imagine Olajuwon, Pippen, Drexler, or some other retired NBA player that doesn't work in the field in some type of manner (TNT, ESPN, NBA TV, coaching staff, etc) not watching basketball anymore.
I could easily see someone not watching. If I walked away from an industry out of frustration why would I want to watch it to constantly be reminded of why I was pissed off in the first place. Punk had the same complaints that a lot of us fans have so why would he watch something that he thinks is subpar or low quality.I call BS about not watching AEW or wrestling period. Between his appearance at Starrcast III and his numerous interviews leading up to the release of The Girl on the Third Floor, CM Punk has been back in the headlines for months. And with that return comes renewed speculation that he return to the world of professional wrestling, whether it be back in the WWE or with the new All Elite Wrestling promotion. On the latest episode of Barstool Sports' My Mom's Basement, Punk made it clear that he'd "absolutely" be open to returning to wrestling in some capacity.
"For five years I've always been asked that question," Punk said. "No matter what I say, it gets reduced to clickbait and it gets warped. I've gone through some many iterations of people saying, 'Oh, Punk hates wrestling.' None of that was ever the case. I think I've always been open to it. My attitude has always been that I don't see it happening. I think I've talked about it more recently, but my attitude hasn't changed. People always ask what would it take to go back, and I say it would take a big bag. So people use their imaginations.
"I guess I'm the white whale in pro wrestling," he later added. "I'm open to the idea. I just haven't been approached properly. I'm not courting anybody to show up with a dozen roses to my front door. Even just talking about it is kinda gross and I know it's annoying. Master P reached out on Instagram and wants to talk to me. I don't know what that's about."
Punk also gave an update on WWE Backstage, WWE's new weekly news show on Fox Sports 1. The former WWE Champion recently admitted that he auditioned for the show, but hasn't heard back from Fox since.
" Haven't heard a thing," Punk said. "... I was told WWE was not involved. But who knows. It could be why I haven't heard anything yet. I made it clear to them that, if I landed this, I wouldn't be here just to shyt on everything because nobody wants to watch that. The way they approached me with it was, 'We have [Alex Rodriguez] for baseball, Troy Aikman for [football]. And then you for wrestling. That would be your authority. We would like you to be the analyst.'"
WWE Backstage will officially premiere on Nov. 5 on FS1 and feature Renee Young and Booker T as its weekly hosts.

That's interesting. I wonder if they want him to shoot on the quality of the angles or do they expect him to just go, "Wow, looks like things are heating up! Tune in, folks!"The way they approached me with it was, 'We have [Alex Rodriguez] for baseball, Troy Aikman for [football]. And then you for wrestling. That would be your authority. — The Wrestling Observer Newsletter ran a story about WWE’s general lack of interest in bringing back CM Punk. It was noted that Vince McMahon still labels Punk as the one man who he “can’t do business” with” and nobody in upper management, including Paul Heyman, has even bothered to argue that point or push him to reconsider. There was a time when Punk’s agent reportedly tried to open discussions with WWE about a return but was turned down and Punk’s role with ‘WWE Backstage’ is still purely something FOX wanted. WWE ended up approving it so not to cause any “waves” in their new relationship with the network giant.
— While some argue that a surprise, one-time appearance at WrestleMania would have been great for both sides, there are some people backstage who were told that Punk de-valued himself by choosing WWE Backstage as his “return” to wrestling, especially when after the initial spike in ratings, his return seemingly caused no further jumps in viewership. Perhaps the only reason - at this point - that Vince McMahon would want to work with Punk directly is to keep him away from AEW.
