This. If you hire Punk you basically have to build your company around his name value which means youd do the exact same thing TNA and WCW did. And since Punk can be a miserable prick, you dont want to give him that kind of power over your brand which is in its infancy.
Jericho is their world champ and their biggest signing has been Dean Ambrose. How is that not the same shyt tna and wcw was doing?

Their show is called Dynamite for Christ’s sake.:russ:

"They felt very disrespected by what he said, & they should have if you know what the real story was. I can't go into too much detail, but I know it"

:heh:

ESPN: When you do Starrcast, right or wrong, there is an implied relationship with AEW. Do you have any relationship with AEW?

Punk: No. I know they like to talk about me a lot. If I text Matt Jackson, "Hey, have a great show tonight," which I did when they had their big show in Vegas, that somehow turns into Tony Khan telling people he has a great relationship with me. I've said in the past I've talked to them, but nothing ever came of anything.

ESPN: Do you feel like there's an expectation from fans that you're going to show up at AEW's show, at All Out?

Punk: I think if there's an expectation, it's purely been built by them. My silence to some fans means something. They're trying to read the tea leaves, but there's nothing to read. I even feel like talking about it may feel like I'm putting some sort of negative slant on it, but I'm really not. The fact is I know they've teased me ad nauseam, and if anybody is gonna get mad it's at me because I don't show up. Well then, I don't know what to tell you. That's one of those things that's none of my business.

ESPN: When you say they've teased you, what do you mean by that?

Punk: They do videos where they talk about me. They're constantly talking about me in the media. And again, maybe this sounds like I'm badgering them, but I'm not. It's just something that happens. I'm a popular guy to talk about. But I'm not doing interviews talking about them. If people ask me about it, I say no, I won't be there.

ESPN: Just to be completely clear, there's nothing imminent?

Punk: The last thing I got -- I got a text from Cody [Rhodes]. And again, I almost don't even know how to reply to them sometimes, because if I reply, they do interviews and are like, "Oh yeah, I just talked to Punk." I'm kind of damned if I do, damned if I don't. I always think if somebody wants to do business with me, they can come talk to me. Texting offers isn't really a way to do good business, at least.

ESPN: Was it an offer via text?

Punk: It was texted through three people and an offer came in through text. This is like a month ago, maybe.

ESPN: An offer for All Out?

Punk: I think it was just a general offer. I never could have done the last one in Vegas [Double or Nothing], because I was in California for CFFC.

ESPN: I feel like those questions have intensified for you because of AEW. It's an alternative to WWE. People know you're not a big WWE fan. You're somewhat friendly with the guys in AEW. All of those things kind of lead to the are-you-going-to-wrestle-again questions.

Punk: I get it. But also there's a weird thing, and I don't know, it's just across entertainment as a whole, but I'm not that dude that sat down on a stage in Vegas eight years ago. I'm not the dude that left WWE. I'm not that guy. That was five-years-ago Phil. I'm a different dude now. People still have that connotation, like, "Oh, he hates WWE." And it's just like, no, I've let all that go, and I've let all that go so long ago. But there are people that hold on to that. They still think or want me to be who I was. I'm not who I was yesterday. This is my journey, this is my odyssey.

So that was dropped July 25th & Punk pretty much told them to stop talking about him. 3 days later Cody was talking about him again, saying he wouldn't be surprised if he went back to WWE. Still talking about it being 50/50 now.

It's almost like Punk is a super weirdo that was testing them & Cody failed the test 3 days in :jbhmm:

Near the 40 minute mark Punk says he did that test for the Fox show, he's open for "anything" but shuts down the idea of actually wrestling. Also says he's in conversations with Fox and that the fact that he revealed it might fukk the deal up :heh:. He says he's not dealing with WWE at all for this, just with Fox.

Says his agent told him Fox asked for him to see if they could work something out.

EDIT: Near the 1hr5min mark he tells some interesting details he discovered in his lawsuit against the WWE. He was able to get access to emails and conversations between people in the company discussing stuff like his mental health and not paying much attention to it because they needed him working some show. And of course, never actually discussing that kind of stuff with Punk.

He wants back in WWE, AEW could’ve done everything perfect and Punk would still want WWE. He wants a Lesnar deal.

lol.

this dude complained about the system, but had enough power to buck the system by going to another promotion. instead, he quit wrestling all together. I lost all respect for his so-called stance right then & there.

and now AEW is the biggest budget promotion to challenge the WWE and he still aint get down with them.
I'd have no respect for dude AT ALL if he went back to the WWE.

Then, you factor in how Vince pulls outcasts back into the fold (Sting, Ultimate Warrior, Bret Hart), and it was inevitable.

how is sting an outcast pulled back into a fold that he was never apart of??

CM Punk On If He Watches AEW, WWE Competing With AEW - Wrestling Inc.

As seen above, former WWE Champion CM Punk appeared on WGN News this morning to promote the Chicago premiere of his "Girl on the Third Floor" horror movie on Friday night at the Chicago Film Festival.

Punk will be appearing at the festival on Friday night to walk the red carpet and do a post-screening Q&A with the rest of the cast. The movie hits theaters nationwide on Friday, October 25. Punk said he loved filming this movie and said everything was great about it. They used all an all-Chicago crew, talents and production, except for one actress from New York City. Punk said everyone showed to work every day with a different kind of passion because of this, and he thinks this is why the movie is so good.

One of the anchors asked Punk if he's officially an actor now, and while he has expressed interest in doing more film work, he talked about the differences between WWE and acting. "Girl on the Third Floor" is Punk's feature film debut.

"Working for WWE and doing live TV every day of your life is a lot," Punk said. "It's high pressure, so having the ability to do multiple takes, to do multiple, different angles of things and stuff... I'm not going to say it made it easier because there are definitely challenges to it, but it made it fun."

Another anchor asked Punk if he watches AEW.

"I do not. I don't watch wrestling," Punk responded.

Punk was also asked what he thinks about AEW's success, being someone who came from the indies.

"I think it's great," Punk responded. "Yeah, I wish these guys nothing but success. You know, if they're successful, it will force WWE to be more creative and it's always better when there's not just one place to work. You know, it's better for the wrestlers, it's better for the fans. I think competition drives industry, so if there's only one place in town to work, I think the creatives will be lazy. So, hopefully both companies will push each other and make the product better for the fans."

Punk has rumored to be working with FOX and WWE soon, but all signs point to no relationship between Punk and AEW happening any time in the near future. You can read our latest report on Punk and WWE/FOX by clicking here.

Below is the trailer for the "Girl on the Third Floor" movie:

I call BS about not watching AEW or wrestling period. That goes for any wrestler that says they don't watch anymore. This was something that was a major part of your life, that you sacrificed your body, etc and you completely shut it off? I'm not saying watching weekly but every once awhile tune in to see what's up.

I couldn't imagine Olajuwon, Pippen, Drexler, or some other retired NBA player that doesn't work in the field in some type of manner (TNT, ESPN, NBA TV, coaching staff, etc) not watching basketball anymore.
