2 years guaranteed. Whether they can void the deal would have to depend the language of his particular deal, but he probably got the same deal everyone else gets, so regardless, he's on the hook capwise (in actual money, that might have to be settled in court)

Technically though, he's never played a game for them, so theoretically, they could find a way to not pay him as if he were a Euro stash, but he signed the contract so that could complicate things.

I don't see why they would have to pay him. When you sign a contract aren't you obligated to show up & do your job in order to get paid? I know NBA contracts are "guaranteed" but I'm sure you can't just sign it & refuse to report to your team & still get paid.

I've never really seen a situation like this since Leon Smith (and he was crazy too). At the same time, nobody would sign a deal to play pro ball and not wanna join the team.

Not sure how that all works itself out. From a cap standpoint, lucky for them he was the 16th pick, so the first 2 years really don't affect them much. I personally would look to not pay him, but even if they could avoid that, the cap hit won't be much at all.
