Dude has everything he ever wanted. The money (even more so now with Apple), the fame, the bytches or homos (if Suge is right)...he's got absolutely nothing to prove to anyone.
Love for the art? HipHop ain't what it used to be, for the most part the fans of it and his fans are stuck in the 90's, and there is only a couple of artists worth listening to nowadays. The sales of music have dropped, so there's no real money there either.
And he was supposedly lazy in 1996, what should change that in 2014? Unless the guy goes broke, I don't see him making a Detox or a studio album again. He might produce for his top proteges every now and then, but otherwise he doesn't need to. I know I wouldn't if I had all that money.

I think now he has way more incentive to make an album and it's possible that the album would feature cooler topics, I mean he has no reason to pander to anyone anymore. Like I said, he's a legacy artist . . one of the only legacy artists in hip-hop, someone who has a standard for the work he puts out, those last two singles where probably forced out by Jimmy . . now he has no reason to give us an "I Need a Doctor" (aka "Not Afraid 2.0") he can do whatever he wants . . "Been There Done That 2". This man has a love for music, he once had a record collection of over 80,000 records . . with all that influence and passion for music, why let it go to waste?

I respect Dre being a hip hop legend, pioneer and trend setter mogul in the game, but I can't give him the goat producer crown. Dre had so much help on the boards and with his rhymes.
Just go back and look at damn near all of his production credits: mike elizondo, Fred wreck, Scott Storch, Mel man, daz, Sam sneed, hitman, snoopafly, dj yella, Chris "the glove" Taylor, neff-u, dawan Parker, Mark batson. All these dudes were makin tracks for Dre but weren't gettin their credit. Dre is overrated
