It's time to admit Game of Thrones has surpassed Breaking Bad, The Wire and The Sopranos

Seeing this (and this thread in general) always makes me chuckle.

"Breaking Bad" is who the writers of this show are striving to be better than. That's the bar they're aiming for. GRR Martin has a character inspired by Walter White in his next book, too.

Only on The Coli is it a B tier show.

Fred.
Nothing but facts. Walter White is easily a top 5 central character of any show in its genre if not better. To go from all :merchant: over everything to being completely :demonic: by the end of the show was incredible.

To me it has 100%, not even an argument anymore.

What makes it really unique are there are so many episodes you can play on their own - you don't even need to know any intricate details about the show to enjoy an episode like Hardhome.

That's one of the many things it does that sets it apart. You could just start one of those episodes up for an hour and be entertained. Could even play it in the background when you have company over and if they haven't seen it yet, will probably get into it. It's "pulling" power is just on a different level than the others.

Game of Thrones does what those other series' that have been mentioned: great character-building, plotlines, etc. when people want to deep dive. But none of them have anything like those movie-level production elements Game of Thrones has.

Show dropped out of the goat race with seasons 5-7. 1-4 pure classic
Season 6 was still great but I agree. 1-4 is the greatest four season stretch on television.

Overall, Breaking Bad might be better. I'd take GOT over the Wire though.

They said the same thing about BB and we've already forgotten about that show :mjlol:

The Wire's not going anywhere, breh. Let's wait at least 5 years after GOT goes off air and then we'll revisit this.

The Sopranos aged terribly

the only show you could put up there with Game of thrones is the wire.

The show was brilliant and played out like a slow burning novel.

Honestly, I couldn't make it through the first season. Does it get much better in season 2 or is this just not a show for me? Mind you I'm not really into this midevil shyt like that in the first place but there's some bad bitties in this show and the dragons look cool af.

Hellno.

First few seasons it looked like it might, but take away the shock value and a lot of the last few seasons are mostly :yeshrug: outside of the usual 1/2 amazing episodes. There's some truly awful writing going on there.

Even when Sopranos/Wire/BB weren't hitting it out of the park they didn't reach those lows.

(Maybe that Fly episode in BB :scust:).
