It's time to admit Game of Thrones has surpassed Breaking Bad, The Wire and The Sopranos

You know the show is good nowadays because of the high budget spectacles and a bloody murder promised every episode but really the story is nowhere near Sopranos/Wire/BB. Shyt is dumbed down in comparison, it had a chance but they decided to play for oohs and ahh. I guess it is what you are into, The Wire in particular was a great story, with better acting and a real social commentary. This isn't in it's league IMO. Sopranos/BB way better writing/acting as well.

Nah. The story is easily as good as those. Breaking Bads story in particular wasn't really all that great. The way everything ties together in Thrones in particular is impressive as fukk. It reminds me of The Witcher 3 in that sense that every action someone makes somewhat affects everyone else

It ties together? I don't think so. Lots of thing happen just cause not because they make any sense. It's like an action movie, you got to ignore a lot of inconsistencies to enjoy the spectacle.

Agree to disagree. Having read all the books and also seen the show, it's pretty obvious how some of the decisions some characters make directly impact others. But aiiiite

I was always going to wait for GoT to end before ranking it but after The Door it was already number 4 on my list after The Wire, Sopranos, and Mad Men. Depending on how it ends it could be number 1.

Breaking Bad was a lot of fun, but that's all it was: a lot of fun. Those top 4 shows I just listed illicit emotions from all over the spectrum. I can watch an episode of Game of Thrones and laugh, tear up, be mad, get excited as fukk, be surprised, and be on the edge of my seat. I'm just now watching the finale and just got to the scene where Walder eats that Frey pie. I lost my shyt. I got slightly emotional before that when Davos confronted Mellisandre. The tension was thick as fukk when it came to that wildfire. Breaking Bad didn't give you that type of experience. It was just tension and you wondering how Walt was gonna get out of a sticky situation(which you knew he always would). Cool show, but pretty devoid of depth.

Why is Dany all cool with Varys now after he tried to poison her earlier?
How are the Dorthraki just sea fairing with no problem now?
And Arya's whole arc since the end if A Dnce of Dragons, really?! Now she's a certified killer, with incredible healing power, a teleporter and master baker. lol
I mean I do enjoy all the action no question but it really isn't even consistent with earlier seasons much less the books which I also read.

She walked out of a fukking burning building after killing their leaders without a scratch on her. Then she rode around on a goddamn dragon. She had convinced Khal Drogo and his crew to lead them over the sea previously, and thats before she was even worth a shyt. Now she's a legitimate badass. Of course they're gonna follow this witch and her dragons across some harmless water.

And did Varys even send the poisoner? I mean, even if he did, he was kind of working for the King of Westeros at the time. You're not going to disobey your king. And even still, he tried to call it off when Robert took it back before he died.

And your argument about the Arya storyline is petty as fukk at best. Yes she is a certified killer. She has been training there for damn near 2 seasons. The teleporting shyt with her and Varys has already been beaten the fukk down, and its hilarious that you're even trying to use that to knock the show.

Jesus fukking christ, you must be miserable to hang out with.

Same reason she's cool with a Lannister, she sees they can do more to advance her cause and she's smart enough to heed their counsel. Plus it was Robert that wanted her dead. Varys was doing his job, and he's doing his job now in support of Dany.

The Dothraki follow their leader. Their leader happens to have dragons and they saw her walk out of fire unscathed. They'll do whatever their leader commands.

If you were cool with Walter White getting from New Hampshire to New Mexico in the span of a commercial break, while being a wanted man, being in the final stages of cancer, setting his son up to be a millionaire, convenientaly killing all of his enemies in ridiculous ways, and all the outlandish bullshyt in Breaking Bad....then I'm really not going to take an argument about Arya's story arc seriously:camby:

The book series isn't done yet. They've said they were going in their own direction a while ago. They have the counsel, and more importantly, the blessing of the dude who wrote the book to do whatever they want with the story.

Anything else?:francis:

Dothraki couldn't sail before not that they didn't want to, they get sick and die.
Yeah he was the poisoner, and exactly he worked for the Usurper. They are cool now? I guess it makes for a better closing shot on the boat for the season finale to just gloss over that.
If we are comparing it to other shows that don't have glaring inconsistencies like this show does, yes we have to be that petty.
Put your pom poms down and at least try to be objective. I LOVE the show, it got me to read the books but I can call a spade a spade. It's not the best ever IMO.

You think that Varys is going to simply disclose that information to her....?????? "Hi, Dany, oh yeah I'm the one who gave the order to poison you 5 years ago. LUL." The fukk is wrong with you? How would she know in the first place? I don't think Tyrion is going to tell her considering he's the reason that his ass is alive.

I'm comparing it to other shows as well, and yeah it has inconsistencies at times, but not the crap you're throwing out there in that last post. You gonna cry about Omar surviving a gotdamn 5 floor drop and disappearing into the night as if he didn't just survive that fall? You're nitpicking dumb shyt here son. The "time inconsistencies" is something that people with an agenda would cry about. Everyone else read the explanation or understood it from the get go and kept it moving.

The Last Frontier
cant rank any show until we see how it ends

re dexter/lost etc
Dexter ... poor Dexter. And I say that not skipping an episode through binging seasons 1 - 6. Then 7 happened, and I had to let it go. I didn't bother with 8.

Nobody loves Deadwood or Carnivale around here? HBO should have paid whatever money it took for another season of Deadwood. Greatness cut short.
