We have a two party system. One party should have made sure Trump wasn't eligible to run for President after Jan 6th. The reaction would have been completely different if Obama or Clinton did the same thing. As always with Dems, they have an excuse on why they can't do thing. I don't blame the people since their choices are limited. Also, people really underestimate that folks rather deal with a direct a$$hole versus a passive one.

The south decided to get bold and try to expand slavery. A civil war ensued. As a result, the multi century practice of slavery in this land was ended.

Conservatives within the CIA weren't feeling how Kennedy wanted to collaborate with Cuba. As a result they used their mob contacts to pay a lunatic to put out a hit on an American president. As a result, LBJ stepped in and signed the civil rights act.
A recession forced America to vote in a half black man with a foreign sounding name to be it's president.
Progress in this country is written in suffering and blood. The election of --let's keep it real-- a fascist, will usher in at least 4 years of brutal suffering that might end with the abolition or severe restriction of all anti democratic structures that allowed this to happen. That means term limited supreme court justices, the abolition or restriction of the electoral college, and an end to federal court justice appointments followed by restrictions on the powers of the executive branch.
In the short term, this is a disaster for America, but you have to remember: America is a house with mold and termites. It needs a wholesale renovation and the only way that will happen is if parts of the house are destroyed or the whole thing is torn down and rebuilt.

Zero responsibility taken, zero books read about democratic institutions, history, ethics, political philosophy, psychology, zero time spent ever really thinking through their beliefs about how democracy works and defending it from critical scrutiny. No sense of actual civic duty and responsibility. No real public dialogue. People will rather fight for clicks and attention and discuss tweets of Monday morning quarterback analysis of how and when Kamala lost the election, which people from which groups voted and other meaningless sh*t and they'll happily double down on insisting that we all need to take voting more seriously and restore democracy.

It’s people right to vote for whoever they want even if we don’t like it.
