Karl Malone was retired after that season and Gary Payton was gone three years later. I mean, we can pretend they were in their peaks & it was the equivalent of prime KD, Kyrie & Harden linking up, but none of you are taking the ghost of Karl Malone over James Harden. Youre not taking an over the hill, 34 year old GP over a 29 year old Kyrie Irving. Calling that '03 - '04 Lakers team a super team is disingenuous for the sake of having something to argue about.

It was one of those things where the world went crazy when it happened but in hindsight they were WASHED. Which is why Detroit ran through them. Also, 34 yo players in 2004 aren’t the same as 34 yo players today.
