It’s settled. LeBron James and the Miami Heat created the Superteam era.

Karl Malone was retired after that season and Gary Payton was gone three years later. I mean, we can pretend they were in their peaks & it was the equivalent of prime KD, Kyrie & Harden linking up, but none of you are taking the ghost of Karl Malone over James Harden. Youre not taking an over the hill, 34 year old GP over a 29 year old Kyrie Irving. :heh: Calling that '03 - '04 Lakers team a super team is disingenuous for the sake of having something to argue about.

Celts were the first imo....peak is hard to define given the fact that they had to scale down their game to play with one another.

btw I don't think a "super team" should include teams that draft and develop talent and then turn those squads into dynasties.

Then Lebron went and formed this:

Interestingly, in 2012 despite being on a Superteam with prime superstars like Wade and Bosh, Bron went life and death in a 7 game series vs 36 year old Ray Allen, 36 year old Kevin Garnett and 35 year old Paul pierce.

So why do LeBron's fans bytch about Durant doing this:

And even say he ruined the NBA? Can't you see the obvious hypocrisy? At least KD was more efficient with his Superteam as far as winning titles go

Maybe but on the other hand...Karl Malone averaged more points per game (18) than Shaq in the first round of the playoffs against Yao and the team made it to the Finals :ld:

In addition, Malone averaged 11.5 in the playoffs while Bosh averaged 14 when Miami won their first ring and for their second ring Bosh averaged 12.1 and Wade only 15.9 in the playoffs.:jbhmm:

Malone was no scrub at 40 'cause he was a physical freak of nature.

wade was never healthy again after 2011

Sources: Wade's knee drained prior to Game 3

bosh didn't even play that full celtics series

NBA Playoffs 2012: Why Chris Bosh Shouldn't Rush Back from Injury

..once again, what lebron and durant did were not on equal footing

Splainin' :russell: Now we're supposed to believe Wade and Bosh turned cripple when Bron joined them. As if Wade wasn't the Heat's best player in that year's finals and as if other playoff contenders don't have injuries

Norfeast groovin…
They did but not to the same level. There’s a significant difference making a super team in your mid 20s vs your early 30s.

Does this happen if Boston isn’t dominating the East? :ld:

As dominant as the Lakers were there was a bit more competition in the West compared to the East with Boston on top.

A lot of nba “fans” first started paying attention to the nba in the early 2010’s and act like nothing happened before then except for :mjcry: winning

Yeah I think it would have. Kobe proved Boston was beatable without squading up. Plus the Magic got to the finals during Boston’s dominance. Lebron didn’t need a super team to surpass Boston. He got impatient and didn’t want to grind. The purpose of the Miami super team was to make it impossible for other teams to compete for a long term run.

Pierce didn’t decide ray and Garnett were coming
