Illegal guns - every single one of them - were once legal guns. Black market factories are not at work here.

SOHH you make 5 million guns and ship them out the door legally, some percentage of them become illegal guns. All of them flood the streets, even in the hands of non maniacs. If we somehow only produced 100,000 guns then the ability for them to become illegal guns is decreased as well as the number of guns on the street period.

Umm.. situations where it should be legal to pack a gun:
'on your property' for handguns and
for hunters: whatever logistics they need (why not make it illegal to have the gun assembled and loaded outside the hunting area?).
Gun ranges could provide guns and
gun owners could have authorized target practice areas where they live(?)

Iono. We could allow for all the sane uses of guns somehow. Unfettered gun proliferation is only going to ensure much more of same madness. The sane people of America are like a bish who's man beats her if we just keep our heads down in the face of this abuse. It's scary to stand up to the gun nuts, but if we sit around and wait it's going to go real wrong soon enough and we'll be even less able to turn it around.

Well, in theory, dude did the right thing.

I mean, I can't fault him at all.

Thing is, you just have to be smart in that situation if ur gonna use your gun. But that's way easier said than done.
I don't think the writer is faulting him at all
he is just looking at the consequences in this case, statistically and he also considers the hypotheticals of confrontation with open and concealed carry. It seems he concludes that open and concealed carriers may be at greater risk than those who choose to hide and wait for the law to step in.

Lots of guns don't necessarily mean lots of shootings, as you can see in Israel and Switzerland.:ehh:
I think what we need to do to combat mass shootings is get rid of gun free zones... or as I call them helpless victim zones. 99% of mass shootings occur in these zones, and these rampages are ended when guess what? another gun shows up.
I get how unattractive the idea of armed faculty at schools is, but if some one could quickly put down a shooter after he opens fire at a school(a gun free zone), we could save countless young lives.

Seems worth it to me.:manny:

Moreover, gun violence in general is on the decline, while drunk driving is increasing, if we are truly interested in saving lives(:duck:), lets look at what can be done about the latter...

True.

Gun fans talk about some unknown future event like stopping a bad guy with a gun but the sane people talk about actual past events (which are a greater perdictor than the imagination). The numbers clearly show that you're 40x more likely to shoot your housemate than a crook.

First murder is illegal, and rightfully so. Where do you get that I(or anyone) is for people being shot?

Sohh you gon ignore the first question and act like movies like this don't have an affect on others:

yup, much more likely to commit suicide, accidentally shoot yourself or a loved one or murder a loved one, than actually defend your home

The annual rate of homicide by any means per 100,000 population was 0.70, which is one of the lowest in the world.[19] The annual rate of homicide by guns per 100,000 population was 0.52
The point being more guns =/= more crime/high rates of gun violence/more mass shootings etc. In fact Switzerland has lower crime than nations with guns banned outright.
We should look elsewhere for causation IMHO. :manny:

But, I'd be more than willing to look at evidence drawing a direct link between the two... :ld:
