I watch a Benoit match whenever I want to.

:manny:

I'm glad that the DVDs he was in before he offed himself weren't touched by the E. I had to make sure he was still on the first ladder match and chamber DVD.

I don't go out of my way to check for his matches like I used to when he was alive, but when I do watch somethin' with him in it, I want to see it in it's original form :manny:

i remember chris benoit had the ill wrestling dvd that the wwe put out...can't find that shyt in stores anywhere

Copped it when first dropped. It is an ill DVD. I was mad hyped that he had finally got one.

Personally, it doesnt bother me now. Now if all that stuff about his brain being mush never came out, then I'd feel different.

I cant watch his matches with the same excitement, but I can still watch them.

I read this on a couple other sites but it's pretty fukked up the way WWE handled the shyt. Interesting read. WWE basically went ahead and payed tribute and went into total damage control as soon as they found out Benoit did it. They tried to paint a picture on that RAW to make themselves and Chris look better.

5:30 PM ET: WWE Canada President Carl DeMarco calls Benoit's parents. His mother, Margaret home alone, answers. DeMarco says “I considered Chris one of my best friends…” only to get a response of “Why are you telling me this?” before realizing they hadn't been notified and saying he'd call back. DeMarco calls the detective in charge of the notifications, who called Benoit's mother. DeMarco then called Scott Zerr, an Edmonton report of friend of Chris who was helping with his autobiography, and told him to go to the parents' house and lend his support. Margaret calls her husband/Chris's father Michael and tells him to come home.

Around 6:00 PM ET: The deaths are reported on WWE.com.

6:05 PM ET: Dave Meltzer receives a call from a WWE source who tells him that Chris was the killer.

6:36 PM ET: Constable Rob Morris of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police was dispatched to the Benoit home. He assisted Emergency Medical Services in “a complaint of a distraught female [who] was just informed that her son, who lives in the United States, had passed away.” His report documents that he “called Detective TURNER to confirm details. Detective TURNER had already spoken with Chris’s Mother, Margaret BENOIT, and informed her of Chris’s passing. The incident was being investigated as an alleged murder-suicide.”

6:45 PM ET: Michael gets home. Zerr meets him in the driveway and tells him he was told by WWE that Chris killed Nancy and Daniel before killing himself.

Between 6:00 and 7:00 PM ET: Police tell a local reporter that Chris was the killer. The reporter mentioned this the next day on MSNBC.

Presumably some point before 8:00 PM ET: JBL asked Regal if he thought Chris had anything to do with killing Daniel right before Regal taped his tribute, rattling Regal (who knew that Chris had been losing it to some degree) enough to make sure he didn't praise Chris as a person. Chavo Guerrero, who (along with Scott Armstrong) got the text messages from Chris, tapes a tribute that goes overboard in talking about how he trusted his kids with Chris and makes it clear he knew what happened.

8:00 PM ET: Raw goes on the air on the East Coast.

10:00 PM ET: The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that it's a murder-suicide.

10:30 PM ET: Rich Tate reports that Chris was the killer.

11:00 PM ET: WAGA TV reports that Chris was the killer as Raw goes on the air on the West Coast.

Around 12:00 AM ET: WWE.com reported that Chris was the killer.

I just re-read Ring Of Hell, and in doing so, I ended up popping in the Hard Knocks DVD to rewatch some of his classics that I hadn't seen in forever. It was weird, because I haven't watched any of his stuff since it happened. But man, that murderer could wrestle his ass off. Shame that my love of the business died with him.

i havent watched any of his matches since that happened, that was a very very black day for the industry, truthfully the only thing else that compares is owens death, on that scale, and then the list of wrestlers dying very early

I tried going through this again, but damn this shyt is too hard. Chris Benoit was someone I was a total stan for at the time, cuz of the connection and torch I felt he carried on for Bret Hart. I know some cats get sick of hearing Bret come up with Benoit, but die hards for the Hitman latched onto Benoit as they dude.

shyt went down, then the truth came out. I was just devastated at it all :wow:

For a guy who put it all down there in the ring, it was unbelievable to hear the things that he did.

It was a devastating blow to the wrestling industry.

I give Chavo and Regal credit in remaining as calm as they did during their tributes to him knowing what they knew. If memory serves me right, I think it was during the show or right before that Raw that news outlets were starting to report it a murder/suicide. People can talk all they want about Vince going crazy and killing the industry, backstage politics killing it, Linda's run for congress, advertising dollars killing it. But history will eventually show us the industry started to die when when Chris Benoit committed this heinous act.

The Benoit thing was not the end of pro wrestling in America. There was a irresponsibility shown by the WWE in how those young wrestlers died in an amazing time span....it took Eddie's death for them to start to really police shyt? That's wild.
