It’s gotta be a sick feeling to know you traded all those picks and SGA for Paul George

I've literally heard this trade being called the "Herschel Walker trade" for the NBA. I'm just using the criteria people already set up, I don't give a damn if either team wins a chip either way, BUT you need tangible results, you can't just live off "well we made the greatest trade in NBA history!!!". Especially when we have examples of crucial pieces that got traded to a team that put them over the top to win a championship.

Again, this is a sign of the times. You feel obligated to lead with critiquing. It’s goofy

The trade is the trade. If the return for player A is greater than the return for player B, that team won the trade :what: Anything extra from that point is a completely separate conversation.

If OKC never gets to a Finals or never wins a ring, that’s a SEPERATE conversation to lay blame to SGA as a player, the coach, Chet, etc. But they still will have already won the trade. Obviously :heh:

No, I critiqued after the narrative changed. Nobody was saying the Clippers lost the trade or anything like that until the Clippers kept underachieving and SGA became a star/superstar level player. And its not a separate convo when all of their vital pieces (whether it's SGA himself or picks) CAME from the Clippers which has them as a Finals contender.

Life’s about winning & losing

Kamala ran a great race head ass :russ:

Yea it’s also about common sense :gucci:

Let me put it this way to underline how fukking stupid you sound: Dereck Henry is a 2nd round pick. He’s a first ballot hall of famer and one of the best RBs all time. He ran for almost 10k yards for Tennessee.

By my logic, judging only that pick, the Titans hit a home run with that pick. It’s one of the greatest 2nd round picks of all time. Just by the totality of his career. We can ordain that pick, that front office move, a success

By YOUR logic, that pick was a failure bc he left before winning a ring :unimpressed:

That’s the type of bottom of the barrel logic you’re bringing to the table

So nobody was saying they lost the trade until it became clear they lost the trade? The narrative is supposed to change when the facts do.

You don’t even realize what you’re saying :snoop:

SGA—-assuming he continues to be an all star—-is already stamped. He doesn’t need a ring to validate him as a player. He could end up a hall of famer with no rings. You do understand that right??

It’d be like saying Stockton and Malone didn’t win a ring so those were failed draft picks. You do realize how nonsensical this is, right?

I can’t believe ring culture has ruined mfers THIS bad.

If you wanna put it like that sure:yeshrug:

Most basketball people had the Clippers making the Finals, and some even winning it all when that deal went down, so hindsight is 20/20. But we can't act like it was looked at as dumb in real time, especially since nobody saw SGA becoming what he is today.

I basically posted this in my first post in here. 99% of people thought the Clips were taking over the league. 99% of GMs make that move then. Everybody was hanging from Kawhi's nuts back then. So nobody (except @murksiderock and @MikelArteta) is in position to fault the Clips. That said, its undeniable now that they lost the trade and OKC won it. Two things can be true.

the tables were already starting to turn the same year the trade happened when the clips choked that 3-1 lead

and it became clearer and clearer with time that kawhi was grifting them when he kept missing the playoffs

they made that trade to win rings and never came close to even one. they gave up and mvp candidate and a shytload of picks for one wcf appearance. they lost :hubie:
