Was confused, then I understood immediately what was going on.
Nintendo lives rent-free in the psyche of so many gamers(barring the computer sect, they're weirdos best left alone with their kiddie porn mod packages) because they've been at it so long and they're still a pivotal development house.
So many groundbreaking series have died or become unrecognizable to what they started as.
Not Nintendo though. A purebred lineage of game design mastery that all the glitz and gloss of contemporaries can't outshine.
They're not perfect but they're as close as it gets.
Elden Ring comes from Dark Souls which came from Demons Souls which came from Zelda which was begot by Ultima...which is dead.
But Zelda is still very much alive, and it's seeds are everywhere.
In Fromsoft, Team Ico games, indies bleed Zelda and Metroid dna.
It's gotta wear on the ego that so much of what you love, sprang from the 3.5 inch dikk of a Japanese weirdo gardening fetishist that you hate or are jealous of.
Whole game industry has a crush on Nintendo but chases them around the playground saying he's got cooties to mask that elevated heartbeat and sweaty palms.

. Nintendo got GOAT development but WOAT customer practices. I mean what's the point of having games on the Nintendo Online library front when a year later they can shut that down and fukk my feelings
