Studies say people with lighter and whiter features get more love from White America on a sliding scale. Moreover Obama has a white liberal demeanor and parlance, in addition to known white mother, so he gets a pass. I can't count the number of times I've seen Yahoo commentaters say, "but he's half white". The only way a black man can win is if he's a total sellout to white conservative notions or intrinsically connected to white people in some other undeniable way.

White conservatives are OK with dark skin sellouts like Mia Love and Doneen Borell.

It' still a white country where white people hold almost all the power so that explains a lot of that. Yes white people are quick to claim his half white side... if he was doing bad or was just some regular negra they wouldn't want nothing to do with him... just another s******

An irrelevant question. Whites were first during slave, then mixed then black. People were treated from best to worst in that order.

His skin tone is intermediate between his father, who was dark skin, and his mother, who was pale skin. He is a light brown. He wouldn't be seen as black in Kenya.

Depends on the racist in question. Historically whites have been more comfortable with mixed and half breeds than full blacks, not just in America but in places like Brazil too.

Obama was elected on the basis he was a racially concillatory force, meaning that he was supposed to "bring America together". This was predicated on the notion he was half white. That's what probably made white people comfortable enough to elect him.

and, ironically, it was almost exclusively convos with other black ppl (even my own mother ) obama momma is white therefore he's only partially black. but you're going to justify believing the same thing as the grand wizards of america?
