A lot of people underestimate India's military capabilities. Yes India can't pose a threat to China but that's not the point. India has enough about it to deter a full scale Chinese invasion, there's enough to hold the line and that's all India really wants to do in relation to China. The main focus of the high command and the government will always be on Pakistan.
