Vince has a WWE champion thats a money making machine... I dont follow who's merch does what like that but im sure new day does #s... dudes have their own cereal and their own sneaker (although I dont think WWE gets $ from the sneaker) so much more merch can be released and fans will eat it up

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
When I went to RAW in 2010, I was standing next to a dad and his son who had one of those custom WWE title belts. They had actually met Kofi earlier in the day and the kid was a big fan of his and had Kofi's name plate in the title which apparently delighted him. They got his autograph and picture. I wonder how that child feels now (if he's still watching.) :wow:

I feel kinda bad as a kid that grew up a huge wrestling fan that I'm not excited about Kofi being the first African-American WWW champ.

Maybe it's because I see Smackdown as 2nd rate and/or I've been desensitized 30 years and my heart just aint in it.

Props to y'all that it resonates with tho
I've been watching since I was 5 years old for the past 32/33 years now & yes I understand that it wasnt the RAW brand. But it's still the same lineage belt that Vince's father established in the 60's.

So yes this shyt hits different.

I am still feeling overwhelmed with joy. Growing up you always knew black wrestlers had a ceiling. You would watch matches and just knew. We sat and cheered wrestlers no matter their skin color knowing that we would never get the same treatment. We saw them used hip-hop culture and let Cena reign for over a decade. We saw what they did to Booker T during his chase for the title.

Yes , we know The Rock is half black but they always played up his samoan heritage.

I stopped watching wrestling like that constantly for the last few years, but I had to watch this Kofi match. After damn near a lifetime of watching wrestling, we finally got to see a black man as champion. Seeing all those tears of joy man:to:.

I dont care if its fake fighting, that was a childhood dream come true.
