Tbf, the Warriors players/staff put those expectations on him also.

3 days ago, Steph said he wants to see Wiseman be an MVP candidate. Klay said that wiseman will be a huge part of the future in media day at the start of this season.

Man if he can’t play Summer League, I just can’t support him being on the team :francis:

Warrior fans did as well, so let’s not pretend that wasn't the case. Dude needs all the reps that he can get, so if he's healthy enough to play then he needs to be out there in Summer League.

Tell that to Warrior fans who put those expectations on him initially and have been griping since that he hasn't lived up to them until they made this championship run. Even with that performance he still lost out there on the court at times, which is expected still since he hasn't played much basketball in years since high school. He's behind the ball in development and their championship this year actually works in their favor as they don't have to rush in bringing him along.
I mean nobody expected him to not be able to play Summer League for 2 years, get covid, miss training camp for 2 years, and deal with multiple injuries. This is unprecedented. Closest situation would be Embiid but technically that was worse because he didn't play for 2 1/2 years to start his career. Young players gonna be lost sometimes. Kuminga was on a much shorter leash, with more direction, and way less pressure and still looked lost as hell sometimes, especially on defense. These guys are 1 of 1 type of athletes. The poise and understanding of the game will come with playing time.

i think teammates hold a bit more water then fans or VoiceofReason on a forum talking about it. if they have more confidence then some random fan on a forum who does hot take after wrong hot take imma have a bit more faith in them.

They’re his teammates. They’re not supposed to be objective. They have confidence in him because he’s hit every bump in the road and showing their belief in him is their way of helping him. If I was his teammate, I’d be doing the same damn thing.

Or do you seem to think they’re gonna come out and say he’s some trash?

they could come out and say nothing regarding how good hes going to be or what expectations they have for him.

We spoke on this a few pages back.

It speaks to how great Steph, the foundation of the original core and the system-coaching is. Basically, they saved the front office from embarrassing themselves. If you’re supposed to be contending, you should be all-in with your roster and direction, and not leaving it up to chance of hoping for a miracle.

We all thought this team was early. This current initeration that is. As you said, speaks to Steph, he took his game to a level Duncan goes and it's hard to explain but it's a level or intangible that you either got it or not. Steph at this stage has it.
