Compared to his other albums, he dumbed it down...and it still didn't sell 
way too many samples.
he got away with not clearing them on his tapes because they were free songs

Its more specific then that. sohh/coli/internet doesnt like success. when they see someone is successful and will potentially outdo their own situation and lap their life savings a million times over, they get mad and hate.
when a rapper isnt makin that kind of money, doesnt get THAT much puzzy (something sohh/coli/internet users can all relate to) they have no problem because he aint shytting on them

Cole was never "hated" on SOHH a couple nikkas didn't like him and called him boring but he got just as much love as KRIT did up until his debut album.
Im sure Big Sean will sell too, his first single is gonna have Kanye beat with Adele on the hook, nikka manufactured star and you can tell when he's on stage by himself, can't hold his own. When you take away his features he's a poor mans Drake thats just as "boring" as the nikkas that get shytted on here.
